Term 3 - Week 8 - 2023

Principal's Report

Dear Families

It has been another wonderful week here at Wallington Primary School. Our School Transition for our future Preps (2024) and our Grade 6 students moving to secondary school is in full swing. These are significant milestones in each child and families’ life and we recognise the importance of supporting our littlest and eldest students to successfully navigate these big steps in their education pathways.

Earlier today, we held our first Prep Transition session for our students and families commencing in 2024. They were magnificent! The children engaged in activities together whilst our teachers, Mrs Taylor and Miss Martin, spent time playing and getting to know each child. We are very excited to welcome them back again next Tuesday. Next week whilst our students are enjoying time in their classrooms, the parents will be invited to a session with myself to learn more about our school, how they can support their child prepare for school and, have an opportunity to meet our other Prep families for next year. Our wonderful Parents and Friends Association will be providing some morning tea for the occasion, too.

Our Grade 6 teachers also spent the morning meeting with the leadership team and staff from Bellarine Secondary College to support students who are transitioning to their school next year. Our students are so fortunate to have such quality local government schools nearby and I know our Grade 5/6 team are doing everything they can to ensure that all our Grade 6 students are supported in their transition to secondary school.

Last Day of Term – R U OK Day, Coffee Cart and Early Finish @2:20pm

On Friday 15 September, our school will be recognising ‘R U OK’ Day. Students and staff will be engaging in a range of wellbeing activities throughout the day to recognise and celebrate the character strengths of each person, as well as, the importance of caring for yourself and looking out for your friends.

At Wallington, we also recognise that ‘it takes a village to raise a child’  and would love to welcome our community onsite to spend some time socialising and connecting with other families. We will have a coffee cart set up at the end of the car park, near the oval between 8:30am-9:30am. We would love to see as many families come along to celebrate with us 😊

No Assembly Tomorrow

As many of our Grade 5/6 leaders are offsite competing in the Division Basketball competition, we will not be holding an assembly. Good luck to all our basketballers!

Father’s Day Stall – Last Chance

Our Parents and Friends held a wonderful Father’s Day stall earlier in the week! It was a huge success with most of the goods being sold! They will be setting up a stall at the front of the school on Friday afternoon for any child who missed out.

Thank you again to our wonderful helpers for their efforts in organising the supply of goods and running the stall on the day. I am sure there are going to be lots of happy dads and special people this weekend!

Traffic Reminder

As we enter the final few weeks of term, a friendly reminder to continue to take care and slow down on the roads, particularly those around our school and within the car park. We can often become complacent and in the hustle and bustle of getting ready for holidays we can rush and drive faster than we normally would.

I wish everyone a safe and happy weekend ahead.

Warm regards

Small Containers and Box Donations

Dear Parents,

Thankyou to all the families that have helped contribute boxes for students STEM classes, it makes a big difference and we can always use more boxes if you have any spare.

I’m also after donations of Hot Wheels cars and LEGO characters to be used in STEM.

Students can just drop them off at the STEM / Art room or hand them to Mr Vaught.

Thank you,

Jason Vaught
