Term 3 - Week 10 - 2023

Principal News

Dear Families

It is such a privilege to be the Acting Principal at Wallington Primary School. I have been reflecting on Term 3 and all that has been happening at the school and could not be more proud or grateful of our wonderful students, staff and families. Our students are delightful: kind, courteous, fun, supportive and inclusive to all. Our staff are committed to ensure that our students learning and wellbeing needs are met, working collaboratively with each other, allied health professionals, educational consultants and DET personnel to ensure individual needs are addressed. There are so many moving parts in schools, and I commend staff for their efforts and care of all our children.

Look forward – Term 4

Term 4 is such a special term in Primary Schools. This year it is a little longer than usual (12.5 weeks), and jam-packed with a range of activities, events and celebrations towards the end. We are looking forward to many more community events where we can come together as one for our students. Please stay tuned for more information re our Colour Run and Twilight Picnic, Xmas Celebrations and more. We would love to see everyone come along and join in the fun!

I wish everyone a safe and relaxing holiday break, spent with friends and family.

Take care,

Carmen Britnell
Acting Principal.

At-School Music Program

Did you know our school has an instrumental music program available to students? Each week, Andrew from At-School Music provides a range of instrumental music lessons to students including PianoGuitarDrumsSingingUkulele and Bass. Our students love it!

Earlier in the year, Asha in Grade 2, who has only been learning piano since mid-Prep, sat her Piano examination with the Australian Music Examinations Board. Asha was thrilled to be awarded a Pass with Honours. Her instructor, Andrew was equally as proud.

If your child is interested in learning an instrument, please go to https://www.atschoolmusic.au/ to register your interest.

Term 3 Chess Champions

We are excited to announce our Term 3 Chess Champions! Each week children who signed up to the Chess Club have been learning about the game of Chess and taking part in a friendly competition to apply their skills. Some of the children reported that they loved the opportunity to engage in a calm, quiet activity during lunchtimes, as well as the challenge of learning the strategies of chess. We are very proud of all the children who participated.

R U OK Day

We can’t wait to recognise R U OK Day as a school tomorrow, promoting the importance of wellbeing and caring for our community. Our students will be engaging in many fun wellbeing activities throughout the day, as well as, coming together for a whole-school lunch to wrap-up our term.

We would love to see as many parents as possible come along and enjoy a coffee on the oval from 8:30am tomorrow morning. If we haven’t met in person yet, please don’t hesitate to introduce yourselves to me – I would love to put a face to the name 😊

We encourage all children, parents and staff to wear a splash of yellow (or, go all out and dress head-to-toe in yellow) to recognise this important day.

News From the Garden

Garden Club Stall

The Garden Club Stall that was held on Tuesday after school was a great success.  A huge thank you to our wonderful Kat and the Garden Club team for all the lovely items that have been donated and made by them.  A big thank you also to the students for growing seedlings and plants in Garden Club to sell and to the year 5/6 students who helped out on the stall - Victoria R, Abbey B, Poppy D and Willow F. There was a frenzy of parents and students purchasing goods and we thank them all - the support was amazing.  So far, $982 has been raised to re-invest back into our beautiful garden.

The Garden Club Stall will be open again tomorrow (Friday 15th) from 8:30am until 10am.
