Wallington P.S. Newsletter

Term 2 - Week 3 - 2024

Principal News

Something I have enjoyed seeing so far in my time at Wallington PS is just how engaged students are in all aspects of school life – both in and out of the classroom. Our wonderful classroom teachers work tirelessly to create lessons that are engaging and fun for all students, while our specialist classes run enjoyable and excited learning experiences, that all students love. In addition, teachers, support staff, parent volunteers, and our wellbeing team continue to introduce new and exciting clubs and activities for students to take part in, many during lunchtimes.

We continue to strive towards increasing engagement in all aspects for all students, as we work towards our ultimate purpose: To grow, inspire and empower an inclusive community where students develop a strong sense of belonging, identity and purpose so that they become inquisitive, engaged and connected contributors to society.

Going to school every day is the single most important part of your child’s education. Students learn new things at school every day – missing school puts them behind.

We all want our students to get a great education, and the building blocks for a great education begin with students coming to school each and every day. If students miss school regularly, they miss out on learning the fundamental skills that will set them up for success in the later years of school.

There is no safe number of days for missing school – each day a student misses puts them behind and can affect their educational outcomes. Each missed day is associated with progressively lower achievement in numeracy, writing and reading.

Remember, every day counts. If your child must miss school, openly communicating with your child's teacher about all absences is a good way to prevent attendance issues leading to significant impact on student learning and progress. If you’re having attendance issues with your child, please let your classroom teacher know so we can work together to get your child to school every day.

Prep -'Me'

Our Preps designed their own school uniform for Wallington Primary. We looked at drawing patterns and line with fine liner pens. Watercolour paint was applied over the school uniform, focusing on how to use a paint brush correctly. Buttons and posca pens were added for finer details. Super cute Preps!
