REMINDER – CURRICULUM DAY NEXT TUESDAY 4th JUNE

Just a reminder, next Tuesday 4th June is a student-free day. Staff will be engaging in a combination of professional development and whole-school improvement, planning and review. We thank families for making alternative care arrangements for the students on this day.

SEMESTER 1 REPORTS & PARENT-TEACHER INTERVIEWS

Semester 1 student reports will be made available on Sentral at the beginning of the last week of Term 2. These reports will be a reflection on the progress made by students throughout the year so far. Parent-teacher interviews will take place on Wednesday 26th June, giving parents/carers the chance to discuss Semester 1 reports and consider next steps for all students. Parent-teacher interview appointments will be open for booking through Sentral two weeks prior, opening Wednesday 12th June.

DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP

Just a reminder that supervision begins at 8:45am each morning. Students and families are welcome from 8:30am, though students must be supervised by parents/carers until yard duty supervision begins. We now have two staff members on yard duty each morning (8:45am – 9:00am) and afternoon (3:20pm – 3:30pm). If students are in the yard at 3:30pm waiting to be picked up, they will be asked to wait at the school office. In the rare event that parents/carers are running slightly late, it is helpful to call the school and inform the office so that we can ensure that students are supervised until collected.

Outside School Hours Care is available through Woodlands House Childcare. They provide before school care from 7:00am at their centre in Ocean Grove, including dropping students off at school at 8:45am. After school care runs here at Wallington PS until 6:00pm. For more information, contact Woodlands House on 5255 5735.

RECEPTION

Many of you may have noticed some changes in the reception area, with some rearrangements and the addition of an information screen. We are very thankful for the donation of the screen by the family of School Council Vice-President, Joel Henderson. You may have noticed we have begun sharing photos, information and reminders within the front office. This digital display will be regularly updated for visitors to see and learn more about what’s happening at the school.

Maths Activity

Try out this fun Place Value activity at home.  Students, it’s your turn to teach your family how to complete this activity. See if you can successfully teach the activity and give your family some positive feedback!

Tell me everything about….

What can you share about the number below.
Is it odd or even? Is it a Prime number?
Does the number have a special meaning to you?

50

Here are some examples:

50 can be equally shared.
A polygon with 50 sides is called a pentacontagon, and a polyhedron with 50 faces is called a pentacontahedron.  A pentacontahedron is more or less indistinguishable from a circle.

See if you can make a list of all the things you know about the number 50!
