Grade Structure 2022
Next year we will be slightly changing our grade structure. Our class groupings will be:

·         Prep/1 – three grades
·         Grade 2 – two grades
·         Grade 3/4 – three grades
·         Grade 5/6 – two grades

This structure will mean that class sizes can be kept lower so that teachers will be able to focus on student development and wellbeing and to maximising learning after two years of disruptions. Tutoring will also continue next year as well to support our students. Next week we will publish the names of teachers that will be working in each year level.

End of Year Student Reports
Teachers will be reporting against the standards of the Victorian Curriculum. Progress since the last reporting cycle will be evident and a guide as to how to read / interpret these reports will again be provided. In such a disrupted year there may be some students who do not achieve the progress expected in a ‘normal year’ – the confirmed funding for Tutoring in 2022 will support many of these students, most evidently in the key areas of Literacy and Numeracy.

Absences
Absences/late arrival/early pick up must be explained e.g. medical appointment as part of the Absences policy.  When reporting your child’s absence, please include a valid reason.  If a reason is not included, the absence will be reported as ‘unexplained’ and appear in the student report as such.  Please use the Sentral parent portal to notify us of your child’s absences.

Pupil Free Day: Monday 6th December
Reminder that Monday 6th December is a pupil free day.

Prep Transition 2022
Next year’s preps have now finished all their transition sessions (3 in total) and are primed to have a great start in 2022. This week they got to meet their year 5 buddies, I’m not sure who was more excited by this, the preps or the buddies! We can’t wait for them to start next year.

Keeping Wallington COVIDSafe
We all play our part to keep our school community safe and healthy and we thank the students, staff and parents for supporting the following regulations that are in place. We hope that it won't be for too much longer:

Face Masks For Years 3-6 Students - It is now mandated that all of our 3-6 students are required to wear a face mask while indoors at school. More information can be found HERE - Wearing a face mask

Vaccination Mandates - it is mandated that all on-site staff and volunteers that work or come within close proximity of children at Wallington Primary School will require a double vaccination.
