Principal News

Welcome back!
Another great start to the term. Thanks to all families for getting their children back into the routines of school life and ready to learn.

New Families
We have several new families joining us this term and we welcome them and hope they feel welcome. If you see a new face around the school, please give them a smile and have a chat with them.

Grade 3/4 Camp
On Monday the 3/4 students and teachers headed off to Log Cabin Camp in Creswick for 3 days of fun and activities. We all had a great camp, and the students did an awesome job. Below are a few quotes about their time.

I am proud of trying my best at all the activities
Kailey Yr3

I am proud of being brave and staying calm because that's the hardest thing for me
Sophie H Yr3

I am proud of having a go at the giant swing
Clancy Yr3

I am proud of archery because I got close to the bullseye
Sammy Yr3

I am proud of going on the zip line because I've never been that high
Oliver Mc Yr3

I am proud of the giant swing because it went up really high and when you pulled on the rope it went down really fast so when you went down you didn't know whether you were falling or swinging
Kiyomi Yr3

Thanks to all the staff who attended, Jason Vaught, Lisa Macy, Tara Belsar and Kelly Kapetanovski.

Parent/Teacher Interviews
Parent/Teacher interviews will be held on Wednesday 20th July between 10am - 7pm (next week).

Reporting is a two-pronged approach:

  • Written reports have provided a broad overview of the curriculum covered and your child's achievement against the standards. They have also provided an update on your child's ability to work with others, their organisational skills and participation in school life.
  • Parent/Teacher interviews will provide the detailed information about your child's progress and the next steps that need to take in their learning and will give you an opportunity to ask questions regarding your child's progress.

Normal classes will not run-on Wednesday 20th July and students are not required to attend school. An alternative program will be run on the day for students who require supervision. Please fill out the below Google form link letting us know if you require supervision:

Parent/Teacher Interviews can now be booked through the Sentral Parent Portal. If you are not registered for the Parent Portal, please contact me.

Prep 2023 Enrolments
Enrolments for Prep for next year are rolling in – both from siblings of current students and from new families to Wallington.  If you have a child currently attending 4-year-old kindergarten and are looking to enrol them for Prep 2023, please complete the enrolment form which is available by CLICKING HERE or from the General Office.

Professional Practice Days
For Semester 2, 2022, the Department of Education and Training has provided schools with the option to hold each teacher’s allocated professional practice day on the same day for all staff. This is to enable the most effective and efficient use of this day.
Early in this term we will confirm the date with School Council and communicate this with plenty of notice to parents. Students will therefore not be required to attend school on this day.

Our school will be participating in the wonderwhite recycling rewards program.  The easiest way to do this is to fill one bread bag with other bread bags then drop this off in the collection bin.  Our aim is to collect 25kg of breadbags, which will get us rewards for our school to redeem new sports equipment.

Next Meeting

Will be on TOMORROW Friday 15th July 9am in the school hall.
All welcome to come along for a coffee and chat and see how you can get involved with P&F in 2022. We aim to keep meetings no longer than 1hr in duration.

Year 3/4 Pencil Cases - Artist Study on Minnie Pwerle

Minnie Pwerle was an Alyawarre woman born in
the Utopia region in the early 1920s. Minnie told stories about body painting circles and small round bush melons in her vibrant paintings. She was a custodian for her country and her stunning artwork pays homage to her Dreamings, country and ancestors.

Discovering Minnie Pwerle's stunning artworks, students designed their own pencil case using paint and posca pens on one side and wrote their name in bubble writing on the other.

They look amazing!

Great work Year 3/4!
