It’s great to be back on deck again this week and I would like to thank everyone for their well wishes over the last week. Staffing and student attendance is going to be an ongoing challenge this term, but I encourage everyone to be safe, keep connecting with your child’s teacher and to maintain contact with the school through this current challenge.
Berry Street Educational Model Training
We are very excited to be participating in the Berry Street Education Model training over terms 3 and 4. The days will be inspiring, relevant and purposeful to our current climate and a fantastic opportunity to weave Teaching and Learning and Wellbeing through our daily lessons.
Day 1 will focus on the area of BODY and emotion with the following highlight areas:
Day 2 will focus us together on RELATIONSHIPS with the following highlight areas:
Staff will be actively including these within their daily lesson plans, and we look forward to a further 2 days training in 2023.
Keeping our Community COVIDSafe
The Victorian Government, Department of Health Services and The Department of Education continue to have specific measures in place to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our local community. We can all do our part in the following ways:
We have the following in place at Wallington PS to ensure the health and safety of our school community as advised by the Department of Education.

Child Safe Standards
Like all schools across the State, we are in the process of implementing the new Child Safe Standards at Wallington. Our school actively promotes the safety and wellbeing of all students, and all our staff are committed to protecting students from abuse or harm in the school environment. The Child Safe Standards are Victoria’s approach to ensuring a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse. For schools, the Child Safe Standards will ensure that proactive systems and processes are in place to prevent and respond to child abuse. Staff will complete their annual Mandatory Reporting module and engage in professional learning on the new Child Safe Standards. School Councill will complete the Child Safe Standards training at an upcoming meeting.
Assembly
We have decided to postpone assemblies for the time being due to the increasing number of positive COVID cases being reported daily at WPS. We will continue to monitor the case numbers and as soon as we believe it is safe enough to have everyone together in the hall, we will resume on-site assemblies. Until then we will conduct assembly over the PA system at school so that special announcements and student awards can continue to be presented.
