Book Week at Wallington PS
Well done to everyone for a fantastic Book Week dress up day and parade on Tuesday! It was great to see all the kids get into the spirit of the day and to see so many parents watch the parade. The students had a great day in multi-age groups undertaking activities around this year’s CBC nominated books.

Reminder: Pupil Free Day Tomorrow Friday 26th August (No students required at school)
Tomorrow all staff will be undertaking professional learning in the Berry St Positive Education model and no students are required to attend school. The school will be closed as staff will be working off-site.

Vale Bob Swinburn
Wallington PS would like to extend their condolences to the Swinburn family on the passing of Bob Swinburn. Bob and the family have been long-term supporters of Wallington PS and in particular the Wallington Strawberry Fair and their support has played an integral part in the longevity and success of the fair.

5/6 Bike Camp Maldon
Well done to all our 5/6 students who headed off on camp last week. All reports are that they had a great camp and a great time riding bikes, doing mine tours, rock climbing, walking up mountains and visiting the local lolly shop. Thanks to Mr. Jack Stevens for organising the camp, Ms. Jess Bennett, Mrs. Naomi Young and Mrs. Sally Peter for making it all possible.

We Want Our Parents/Caregivers/Guardians to Tell Us What They Think!
Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents/caregivers/guardians think of our school. The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. We encourage all families to participate in this survey. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

This year, all families are invited to participate in the survey. The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 15th August to Friday 16th September. An email has been sent to families containing the details.

Prep/1 - NAIDOC Week Turtles

During NAIDOC Week, students discovered well known Australian Aboriginal artist, Rosella Namok. She grew up in Lockhart River community in North Queensland on Australia's east coast.

Applying paint over pastels, Prep/1 students used their fingers through the paint to create repetitive lines and patterns similar to the effect of Rosella Namok's work.

We decorated a turtle's shell with posca pens and crayons and glued it down on layers of cardboard for it to appear hovering over the background.

Beautiful work Prep/1s!
