Prep Transition 2023

Yesterday we held our final orientation for our new Preps, and they had a fantastic day.  They got to spend time in their room for next year and more importantly got to meet their Buddies! We can’t wait to have them here fulltime next year!

Save the Date: Sunday 14th May

We are very pleased to be able to announce that next year's Strawberry Fair will be on Sunday 14th May.
We have had our first meeting and will be looking to expand the organising team over the coming weeks. We have several retiring committee members so are looking for some fresh ideas and people to come aboard. Next week we will outline the roles to be filled and what they entail.

Children’s Fair

Congratulations to all our students and their teachers for the great day they organised last Friday. From the stalls to Wallington Idol, it was a great day and we were thrilled to be able to donate over $1000 to the Victorian Flood Relief appeal.

Farewell Ms Bennett

Tomorrow we say farewell to Ms Jessica Bennett as she has been successful in gaining a permanent (ongoing) teaching position at Forrest PS. Jess has done a great job in her time here at Wallington and I know that the 5/6 students and the staff will miss her enormously. Good luck Jess on this new and exciting adventure in your career!

SSV Golf

Sam S (3/4B) played at the SSV Primary Region Golf Final on Thursday 10th November at Curlewis Golf Club.
Sam, the youngest in the field finished 6th overall. Sam has qualified for the State SSV golf final at Kooringal Golf Club at the end of November. Great work Sam!

2023

If your child/ren are not returning to Wallington in 2023 (other than graduating Grade 6s) please let the school know in writing asap (wallington.ps@education.vic.gov.au)

Keeping our Community COVIDSafe

The Victorian Government, Department of Health Services and The Department of Education continue to have specific guidance in place to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our local community. We can all do our part in the following ways:

  • Continue good health and hygiene practice by washing hands regularly, coughing or sneezing into your elbow and using hand sanitiser regularly.
  • When unwell it is recommended that you remain home, seek medical advice and undertake a Rapid Antigen Test (these are available at the front office).
  • It is highly recommended that if your child tests positive to COVID-19 that your child isolates for 5 days and returns when symptom free.

In Preparation for Swimming......

In preparation for swimming it is important that students start, if not already, practising dressing themselves independently. Ear infections can also become a problem if students have not been swimming for a long period of time. Germs that live in the ear can be stirred by the water and can cause infections. As a preventatlive measure, wearing swimming plugs and using swimming ear drops may help. It is a good idea to have any student new to swimming to practice using their goggles in the bath and to get use to getting their face wet in the shower prior to swimming.
Students must be in full school uniform at school, with their bathers under their uniform. This allows   for a quick change once at the pool. Please remember to pack your named clothes  (underwear,  towel, goggles etc) in a named dry plastic bag for wet gear.
Please CLICK HERE for a copy of the Swimming Information/Permission Notice.

Prep/1 - Sunflowers

Students used mixed media to create these sunflowers. We sponged on paint with a dabbing effect for the background and used yellow wool to weave over and under around the sunflower. Plasticine and beads were glued on for seeds.

They look terrific! Well done P/1s!
