Prep 2024 Enrolments

We have begun taking enrolments for Prep for next year – both from siblings of current students and from new families to Wallington. If you have a child currently attending 4-year-old kindergarten and are looking to enrol them for Prep 2024, please complete the enrolment forms which are available from the General Office or by CLICKING HERE.  Should you (or anyone that you know) be interested in doing a school tour, all you need to do is contact the school.

2023 Attitudes to School Survey

The annual Attitudes to School Survey will begin at our school between 8th May – 9th June.  Only students in Years 4, 5 and 6 participate.  The survey allows the opportunity for students to voice their opinion on our school.  It will help us to improve student engagement, wellbeing and quality of instruction.  The survey really finds out what our students think about our school.  If you do not want your child to participate in this survey, please email our school at wallington.ps@education.vic.gov.au

Mother’s Day Stall – Tuesday, 9th May

We will be holding a Mother’s Day Stall this year.  All students will of course have the opportunity to purchase something at our stall which will be in the hall.  Our prep classes will go first and hopefully we’ll have no doubling up of presents on Sunday!  Importantly, there will be a second chance Mother’s Day Stall on the Friday afternoon which will be out the front of the school.  For further details please refer to the P&F section in this Newsletter.

Pre – Service Teachers

This week we have welcomed to staff Miss Collins and Mr Gale who will be spending the next two weeks at our school.  As a community I know we wish these two student teacher well and they have already made a brilliant start.

Attendance at School in 2023

We know that ‘every day counts’ at school for our students.  The below graphic spells it out for you in no uncertain terms.  If your family are intending on taking a family holiday during school term this year, I encourage you to meet with myself prior to ensure that the time away from school does not impede on your child’s learning.

Bunyip Camp Thank You

A huge ‘Thank you’ to the volunteer parents who gave up their time to help make Bunyip camp, a success.
The Prep’s, Grade one’s and two’s had a fabulous time and we could not have run the camp as smoothly without your invaluable help.
It’s great to have parents helping, once again.

Thank you so much.

The Prep, One/Two Team.

CSEF (Camps, Sport & Excursion Fund)

Parents who are eligible for the CSEF have been paid the amount of $125 per child for this year.  The funds will go towards payment for excursions, sports and camps.  The school will allocate any charges for these using the CSEF.   If you have any questions regarding your CSEF funds please enquire at the office.   If you are eligible for the CSEF and have not applied, you can still do so before 23 June 2023.

Art Gallery

SNAPSHOT:

This Term the 3/4‘s have been inspired by the Huichol Yarn Paintings in Art.

Huichol (pronounced "Wettchol") art is traditionally produced by the Huichol people, who live in the states of Jalisco, Durango, Zacatecas and Nayarit in Mexico.

The work is a colourful decoration using symbols and designs which date back centuries. The most common products are "yarn paintings" and objects decorated with small beads. Yarn paintings consist of yarn pressed into boards coated with wax and resin and are derived from a ceremonial tablet called a Neirika.

Students looked at the art elements of Colour and Value, Line, Texture and Shape and were inspired to create their own floral art piece for Mother’s Day.
