Dear Families,
Showing Pride Through Our School Uniform
There are many ways we can show pride in our school, and wearing our school uniform correctly is one of them. Our uniform helps create a strong sense of belonging, reflects our shared values and contributes to a positive school culture where every student feels included and equal. It also promotes student safety, reduces competition based on clothing and allows our students to represent Wallington Primary School with pride, both at school and in the wider community.
As a reminder, we ask all families to support our Student Dress Code by ensuring students come to school in the correct uniform each day. Uniforms should be clean, in good repair and clearly named, with appropriate footwear worn each day. Hair that is shoulder length or longer should be tied back for safety, and any make-up or nail polish should be limited to neutral tones, in line with our Dress Code.
We understand that every family's circumstances are different. Our second-hand uniform store provides more options, and additional financial support is available for eligible families. If you require assistance or need to discuss an exemption for medical, cultural or other approved reasons, please contact the school, we're always happy to help.

Friendly Reminder – Morning Classroom Routines
One of the things that makes Wallington Primary School such a special place is the strong partnership we share with our families. Our staff take pride in being approachable, welcoming and always happy to support students and families.
To help ensure a calm, safe and respectful start to each day, we ask that students and families only enter classrooms when invited by a staff member. Our staff make every effort to be available before and after school, as we believe these informal conversations are an important part of building strong partnerships with families. However, there are also times before school when teachers are preparing their classrooms for the day, supporting students, or having confidential conversations with families or colleagues. Limiting access to classrooms during these times helps protect privacy, ensures appropriate supervision and allows staff to provide the best possible start to each school day.
On wet mornings, students will be invited into classrooms from 8:45am, where staff will be on hand to supervise them.
Thank you for respecting these routines and helping us maintain the welcoming, respectful and positive school environment that makes Wallington Primary School such a great place to learn.
Strawberry Fair 2026
Last Thursday was our first Strawberry Fair Committee meeting for the term, with a wonderful mix of new and returning members already rolling up their sleeves and getting to work. There was a real sense of enthusiasm in the room, and planning is well underway for another incredible Strawberry Fair.
The Strawberry Fair is much more than a fundraising event. It's our opportunity to come together as a community and showcase what makes Wallington Primary School so special. Every year, parents, carers, staff, students, past families and community members work side by side towards a common goal, creating something that is far greater than any one person could achieve alone.
Whether you've been involved for years or are considering helping for the first time, there is a place for everyone - stay tuned for more details. The Strawberry Fair, and the community of Wallington Primary School, has always been built on people who simply want to contribute, connect with others and be part of something special. We can't wait to see this year's event continue that proud tradition.
Fundraising in Action – Enhancing Learning and the Community
One of the most rewarding things about community fundraising is seeing the direct impact it has on our school and our students' learning.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our families and the hard work of our Parents & Friends Association, Strawberry Fair volunteers, sponsorship, and wider school community, our programs and resources continue to grow. This year's additions, including a 3D printer, new class texts, library furniture, split systems and blinds, are making a real difference to students' learning and experiences at school. Our exciting Circus Programand performance have also been fully funded through our community fundraising efforts, and we will soon be resurfacing the cricket pitch ready for the new season!
Funds raised from the recent P&F School Disco are already giving back to our students, enabling the purchase of a green screen, professional microphones and iPad filming equipment to further enhance our Media Arts program. These resources are providing students with even more opportunities to create, design, film and bring their ideas to life (see video).
The Junior School Council has also been working with students across the school to use the remaining disco funds to purchase new sports and activity equipment for classes to borrow and enjoy at lunchtimes. The JSC is currently finalising orders, and we can't wait to see this new equipment arrive and in the hands of our students.
A huge thank you to our Junior School Council for leading this student voice initiative, and to every family who has supported our fundraising efforts.
Importantly…
These wonderful outcomes don't happen by chance. They happen because people generously give their time, skills and energy for the benefit of our students. The strength of our school community doesn't belong to any one individual, committee or group of volunteers. It’s something we all help shape. The community we want to be part of is the community we each help to build.
We also recognise that families contribute in different ways and that not everyone has the same time or capacity available. Whether it is volunteering at an event, joining a committee, sharing an idea, supporting a fundraiser or simply putting your hand up when help is needed, every contribution makes a difference.
Together, we can continue to provide exceptional opportunities for our students while sustaining the kind of school community we are all proud to belong to.
Compass
Some families have alerted us that they have stopped receiving notifications of Campass.
Compass has recommended that you try the following:
1) Ensure that your app is updated to the most recent version.
2) Check in settings to ensure that you have all the notifications settings on.
3) Confirm that your mobile number and email address is correct in Parent Portal -> Update My Details. Changes are sent to school administrators for confirmation.
4) Confirm affected recipients are not marked Do Not Contact.
The Admin team are here to help should you need further assistance.
Reading Challenge
Congratulations to everyone taking part in the Reading Challenge! Keep up the fantastic effort—the challenge runs until September 2026.
Each month, one school is recognised for its participation and enthusiasm. We're delighted to share that our school was selected this month, and we've received a wonderful collection of new books for our library.

Thank You for Your Understanding
Thank you to all families for your understanding and support with today’s Stop Work industrial action. We appreciate that changes to normal school routines can create challenges for families, and we are grateful for the patience, flexibility and understanding shown throughout the day.

Art & Music
Year 2 Spark Creativity with Paul Klee!
Our Year 1 & 2 artists have been exploring the whimsical world of Swiss-German painter Paul Klee! The students closely examined his famous 1928 masterpiece, Cat and Bird, diving into how Klee used simple geometry and imagination to tell a story.
Inspired by Klee's stylized cat face, students followed careful step-by-step drawing instructions to build their own animal portraits. We worked hard to master several artistic techniques during the session:
Line control using thick black pastels to map out bold, geometric facial features.
Proportion placement to balance the wide cat face and the tiny bird on its forehead.
Medium blending by layering oil sticks to create rich, textured colours.
Creative expression choosing unique colour palettes to give their cats distinct personalities.
The resulting gallery is absolutely stunning and full of character! Great effort!

Physical Education & Dance Snapshot
It has been another busy and exciting week in Physical Education and Dance!
Our Year 1 students continued their Dance unit by exploring a Rain Dance. Students listened to beautiful weather soundscapes featuring light drizzle, heavy rain showers and thunderstorms. Together, we discussed how different sounds can be represented through both our voices and body movements. Students experimented with creating movements to match the changing weather and worked collaboratively to create short dance sequences about rain. Through these activities, students developed their understanding of how dance can be used to communicate ideas, tell stories and express different aspects of the natural world.
In the lower years in PE, students focused on developing their fundamental movement skills through a variety of fun and engaging activities. They practised running and dodging around obstacles, hopping and jumping using different movement combinations, and throwing a range of objects with increasing accuracy. These activities also helped students develop their balance, coordination and confidence while moving.
Meanwhile, our middle and senior students continued preparing for long jump and triple jump events as part of their athletics training. Students focused on refining the key components of a successful jump, including the run-up, take-off, flight and landing. They explored how speed, balance and momentum can be used to improve jumping distance, while developing the coordination and control required for both long jump and triple jump. Students also practised giving and receiving constructive feedback to help each other improve, while reflecting on how their bodies feel during and after physical activity. It has been wonderful to see students challenge themselves, support their peers and strive to achieve their personal bests.

Congratulations to Jaylen for being our Champion of the Week!
Jaylen has shown fantastic skill and enthusiasm while developing his long jump and triple jump techniques in preparation for District Athletics. He has worked hard on important skills including a powerful take-off, balance, coordination, and controlled landings. Jaylen has also demonstrated a willingness to challenge himself and continually improve his performance.
Well done, Jaylen, on your dedication, positive attitude, and excellent effort in PE. Keep up the great work!

Unexplained absences
Please check Compass for any unexplained absences for your child/s for 2026, if you could put an explanation for each one before the end of term.
An unexplained absence in compass us a record indicating that a student was marked “not present” (absent or late) without a reason entered by a parent/guardian. It means that school is aware the student is missing but not why.
How to Fix: Under the "Attendance" tab, the "Unexplained" tab lists these absences. Parents can select the relevant dates and click "Explain with Note/Approval" to provide a reason.
Why It Matters: Schools are required to ensure they know the safety of students and keep attendance records, requiring a reason for every day a student is absent/late.

SAVER PLUS
What it is:
Financial Education and Savings:
Saver Plus is a 10-month online program designed to help participants learn about financial management, set savings goals, and develop regular saving habits.
Matched Savings:
Participants who complete the program have their savings matched by ANZ, up to a maximum of $500, which can be used for education-related costs.
Online Delivery:
The program is delivered online, making it accessible to participants across Australia.
Saver Plus is a partnership between ANZ, the Brotherhood of St. Laurence, The Smith Family and Berry Street.
Eligibility: To be eligible, participants need to have a current Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card and an eligible Centrelink payment, have other regular income, be studying themselves or have a child in school, be 18+ years old, and agree to join in free online financial education workshops.
