Principal's Report
Dear Families,
Strawberry Fair Volunteers
A group of School Council members have met several times to begin plans for the Strawberry Fair later this year. We are so excited to begin planning this much-loved community event, a long-standing tradition for our Wallington Primary School community.
The next step is to seek input from the school community in how they may choose to get involved. In the next few days I will put out a very short Google Form survey and I kindly ask that all parents/carers complete it as soon as possible. This will give planners an understanding of the extent to which volunteers can take part and the breadth of expertise we have among us, in turn informing the structure and variety of offerings we include at the Strawberry Fair.
For the duration of my time at Wallington, countless community members have expressed a desire for the return of the Strawberry Fair and the importance of providing opportunities for families to connect and unite to inspire and strengthen the community-spirit that is so endearing to our school.
The School Council felt it was important to define the purpose of the fair and agreed on the following three key aims:
1. Promote and showcase Wallington Primary School within the wider community
2. Raise funds to support the school and our students
3. Build meaningful connections among school families through shared effort and pride in continuing Wallington’s legacy
With these goals in mind, we now look to our community to help bring the Strawberry Fair to life. As always, its success will rely on the enthusiasm, commitment, and support of families, staff, and friends of the school.
This is a valuable opportunity to come together, re-energise our community after a few transitional years, and create something truly special. By working together, we can celebrate our school, support our students, and build on a legacy of which we can all be proud.
Stomp – Assembly next Friday
We’re excited for the upcoming STOMP incursion next Friday 9th May! Students will showcase their dance moves in a special assembly performance from 2:30pm. The Mother’s Day Raffle will also be drawn after the performances.
We hope parents can join us for this fun event (fingers crossed for good weather!).
For those who haven’t yet had the chance, please don’t forget to provide consent and payment via Compass for this fantastic experience.
Curriculum Day
The School Council has approved a Curriculum Day for Tuesday 10th June, the day after the King’s Birthday public holiday. There will be no students on this day as staff will be focused on school improvement goals. Please mark your calendars for this four-day weekend.
Election Day BBQ – Thank You!
A huge thank you to the wonderful volunteers who have signed up to run the BBQ and cake stall throughout the election on Saturday at the school. We also appreciate everyone who contributed baked goods for the bake sale. As always, your support is invaluable. All funds raised will go to the basketball rings.

Wellbeing at Wallington
Welcome back to Wallington’s weekly wellbeing activities.
This week's activity focuses on developing students' understanding of their personal power.
You can have a discussion with your child about a situation where they used their coping strategies (breathing exercises, movement breaks, brain breaks) to help them stay present and centred.
How did they feel after they used their strategies? Would they try anything different next time?
Just a reminder that Breakfast Club will be running every Thursday morning from 8.45am outside the hall kitchen. Come and join us for some toast with jam or vegemite.
