Dear Families,
P&F Glow Disco
Our Glow Disco last Friday night was another fantastic success, with students thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to come together, dance to their favourite tunes and spend time with friends in a fun and exciting environment.
The event raised an incredible $1,730, which, following consultation with students and the Junior School Council, will be used to establish a new lunchtime sporting equipment borrowing system for all students to enjoy.
A huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers, whose time, energy and enthusiasm helped make the evening such a memorable one. Events like these simply wouldn't be possible without the support of our amazing school community. We are incredibly fortunate to be part of a school where families consistently give their time to create such special opportunities for our students. Judging by the stories of fun and dancing on the night, it's clear that our students had an absolute ball!
Camp Planning
As we approach the end of Term 2, we are already looking ahead to another exciting term of learning, adventure and special experiences for our students in Term 3.
Planning is well underway for both our Year 3-6 Camp to Anglesea and our P-2 Bunyip Camp, with staff busy finalising programs that will provide students with even more memorable opportunities to learn, challenge themselves, build friendships and create lasting memories.
Details for the Year 3–6 Anglesea Camp were published on Compass today, with information about the P–2 Bunyip Camp to be shared soon (dates also on Compass). We know these experiences are true highlights of the school year, and we look forward to sharing more information as the excitement continues to build.
Notice of Upcoming Evacuation Drill & General Carpark Safety Reminder
As part of our ongoing commitment to student and staff safety, the school conducts evacuation drills each term to practise our response to a range of emergency scenarios. This term, we will be conducting an evacuation drill on the morning of Friday 19 June between 10:00am and 11:00am. During this exercise, students and staff will evacuate to our secondary emergency assembly area, located just outside the school gates at the top of the driveway. If you happen to be visiting the school during this time, we ask that you please be mindful of these activities and follow any directions provided by staff.
This also provides a timely opportunity to remind our school community of the important safety procedures that apply within our school grounds. To ensure the safety of all students, staff and visitors, the maximum speed limit along the Orchard Crescent driveway is 20 km/h, while the speed limit throughout the carpark is 5 km/h.
In accordance with our school’s Traffic Management Plan:
Signage: Car park entry and exit points are clearly marked.
Designated Areas: Drop-off and pick-up zones with protected pedestrian path
Markings: Signage and bollards indicate designated areas
Pedestrian Crossings: parents must escort students across roads and make use of any of the three entry gates for pedestrians
Traffic Control: Staff supervise before and after school
Speed Restrictions: Speed limit signs are placed along driveway (20km/h), and in the carpark itself (5 km/hr)
Disabled Carpark Space: Reserved for disabled access (vehicles with disability permits) only and should otherwise remain available for its intended purpose.
Mid-Year Parent-Teacher Interviews Now Open
Bookings for our upcoming Parent-Teacher Interviews are now open (see times and instructions via Compass Newsfeed from Tuesday). As normal, bookings will be made through Compass, and staff are all too happy to help if you are unsure.
Parent Teacher Interviews for Year 1 – 6 will take place on Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th June.
Parent-Teacher Interviews for Prep students will occur the week prior instead (Wednesday 17th June), as Mrs Taylor will be absent in Week 10.
These interviews are a wonderful chance to reflect on Semester 1, including questions and clarification of Semester Reports, which will be published on Compass prior.
Please note, interviews are 10-minutes in length, timetabled at 15-minute intervals to allow time between back-to-back appointments.

Art & Music
Musical Melodies in Year 3!
This term, our Year 3 students have been diving deep into the world of rhythm and melody during their Music lessons.
Students have been mastering basic rhythmic values, specifically learning how to identify and perform Ta (crotchet/quarter note), Ti-Ti (quavers/eighth notes), and Za (crotchet rest). To bring these rhythms to life, they have been using Boomwhackers—brightly coloured, tuned percussion tubes that make music when tapped!
The children have done a fantastic job learning to sing the song 'Closest Key'. After mastering the vocals, they took on the challenge of translating the piece from its original "Ta" and "Ti-Ti" rhythms directly onto the matching musical notes of the Boomwhackers. Throughout the process, students have focused heavily on keeping a steady beat and working together as an ensemble.

PE /Dance Weekly Snapshot
Year 2 Dance
Year 2 students explored how to dance like rain, experimenting with rain movements that showed light rain, heavy rain, drizzle and thunderstorms. After warming up with stretches and simple actions, students watched a short inspirational clip, The Rain Dance (YouTube), to spark ideas for their own expressive movement. They used fingers, arms and whole‑body actions to shift between gentle raindrops and powerful storm motions. In groups, students created a rain dance sequence using scarves and ribbons before performing for the class. A wonderfully creative week of dance exploration.

This week in PE, some students explored the fundamentals of golf, focusing on the key skills needed to hit a ball a long way toward a target. They practised stance and balance to keep their bodies steady, learned how to grip the club correctly for control, and worked on a smooth, powerful swing action. Students discovered how turning their hips, following through, and keeping their eyes on the ball help create distance and accuracy. These skills build coordination, strength and confidence as they aim for targets across the field. I’m already seeing fantastic improvements in many students’ power and aim during their drives—wonderful progress,and I encourage everyone to keep it up.

Congratulations to Ziggy in year Prep
A huge congratulations to Ziggy, who shone during our golf lesson in PE. He stayed focused, listened carefully, and after just a few small tweaks to his golf grip and swing, his improvement was incredible. Ziggy gave it his best shot — and let’s just say he really “drove” his way to success this week. Fantastic effort, Ziggy!

School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support
School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) is an evidence-based framework designed to promote positive behaviour and create a supportive school environment. At its core, SWPBS focuses on establishing clear expectations for behaviour, recognizing and rewarding positive actions, and providing consistent support for all students.
Key Components of SWPBS:
Clear Expectations: We implement clear and concise behavioural expectations for students, which are communicated consistently across all areas of the school. These expectations help students understand what is required of them and how they should behave in different situations.
Positive Reinforcement: SWPBS emphasises the importance of acknowledging and rewarding positive behaviour. By recognising and celebrating students' successes and good behaviour, schools encourage continued positive actions and create a more motivating environment.
Consistent Support: The framework provides structured support for students who need additional assistance. This includes targeted interventions and strategies to address and improve challenging behaviours, ensuring all students have the support they need to succeed.
Data-Driven Decisions: Schools using SWPBS collect and analyse data on student behaviour to inform decision-making. This approach helps in identifying trends, monitoring progress, and adjusting strategies to meet the needs of the student population effectively.

Unexplained absences
Please check Compass for any unexplained absences for your child/s for 2026, if you could put an explanation for each one before the end of term.
An unexplained absence in compass us a record indicating that a student was marked “not present” (absent or late) without a reason entered by a parent/guardian. It means that school is aware the student is missing but not why.
How to Fix: Under the "Attendance" tab, the "Unexplained" tab lists these absences. Parents can select the relevant dates and click "Explain with Note/Approval" to provide a reason.
Why It Matters: Schools are required to ensure they know the safety of students and keep attendance records, requiring a reason for every day a student is absent/late.

What it is:
Financial Education and Savings:
Saver Plus is a 10-month online program designed to help participants learn about financial management, set savings goals, and develop regular saving habits.
Matched Savings:
Participants who complete the program have their savings matched by ANZ, up to a maximum of $500, which can be used for education-related costs.
Online Delivery:
The program is delivered online, making it accessible to participants across Australia.
Saver Plus is a partnership between ANZ, the Brotherhood of St. Laurence, The Smith Family and Berry Street.
Eligibility: To be eligible, participants need to have a current Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card and an eligible Centrelink payment, have other regular income, be studying themselves or have a child in school, be 18+ years old, and agree to join in free online financial education workshops.
