Dear Families,
Growing, Connecting and Thriving Together – the year so far
As we approach the end of another successful semester, it is wonderful to reflect on the many ways our students have continued to learn, grow and connect with one another, our community and the world around them.

Looking Ahead
As a school, we continue to strengthen the systems, structures and practices that support student learning and wellbeing. Importantly, this work has not changed what makes Wallington special. Rather, it has enabled us to build upon the strong sense of belonging, community and opportunity that has always been at the heart of our school.
While we remain relentlessly focused on high-quality teaching and learning, we are equally committed to preserving the qualities that have always made Wallington special: strong community connections, a deep sense of belonging, meaningful learning experiences and a culture where every child is known and valued.
As we continue to enhance our curriculum, wellbeing and communication practices, we are building on these strengths with greater clarity, consistency and purpose. Together, we are creating the conditions for every student to thrive - developing confident learners who are connected to themselves, others, their community and the world around them.
With plenty more fun to come next term, including 3-6 Camp, Bunyip Camp and our Whole School Circus lessons and Performances, there’s still so much more to look forward to after the holiday break!
Mid-Year Parent-Teacher Interviews
Thank you for your engagement in our mid-year parent-teacher interviews. Once again, we are grateful for our Wallington families for connecting and partnering with the school to support the success of each of our students, working with us to set them up for a successful Semester 2. Thank you for your ongoing commitment.
Curriculum Contributions
Thank you to the many families who have already made a curriculum contribution this year. Your support plays an important role in helping us provide the rich learning experiences, specialist programs, resources and opportunities that make Wallington Primary School such a special place for students to learn, grow and belong.
As a school, we take pride in managing our finances responsibly and maximising every dollar available to support students. While Department funding provides an important foundation, it does not fully cover the cost of delivering many of the programs, resources and opportunities our community values so highly. Curriculum contributions directly support our ability to maintain and enhance these experiences for students.
Curriculum contributions remain open throughout the year, and it is never too late to contribute. Every contribution, regardless of the amount, makes a meaningful difference. The more families who are able to contribute, the greater our capacity to continue providing the breadth of opportunities and experiences that help make our school unique. We understand that financial circumstances vary for every family, and all contributions are sincerely appreciated.
A strong school community is built through many forms of support, and curriculum contributions are one way families can invest in the learning, growth and sense of belonging that we want every student to experience. Thank you for your ongoing support of our school and the opportunities we provide for all students.

Thank you to School Council, Kate and Nicole, and to Joel Henderson for their proactive support in promoting the sponsorship program in the broader community. The resulting funds will go a long way to further enhancing our delivery of our programs, including supporting further upgrades to ICT and classroom texts as a start.
Fortnightly Strawberry Fair Meetings Starting Next Term - First Meeting: Thursday 16th July 3:30pm
As we look ahead to Term 3, we will step up preparations for this year’s Strawberry Fair in November. For those in coordinator roles and anyone else wanting to get involved in planning, we will be running fortnightly meetings starting in the first week back. Plans are well underway, with our established systems from last year serving us well in our organisation. An abundance of market stall and food truck applications (new and returning) are indicating plenty of excitement and support for the fair again, while social media and promotion is also well and truly in progress!
Wanted - Retirement home for our chickens
Our seven distinguished elderly hens are ready to enjoy a well-earned retirement and are seeking a quiet new home where they can spend their days scratching, exploring and enjoying life at a slower pace. While they are no longer laying eggs, they still have plenty of character and charm to offer!
The hens are available free to a good home, and a complimentary bag of feed is included to help them settle into their new surroundings.
If you have room for a few feathered friends and would be interested in giving them a caring retirement home, please contact the school office.
Green and Gold Day – Tomorrow!
The Junior School Council is excited to host Green and Gold Day on Friday, 26th June to celebrate and support the Socceroos! Students are invited to come to school dressed with a splash of green and gold to show their Australian spirit. At 12:00 pm, classes will have the opportunity to watch the Socceroos take on Paraguay together. We look forward to a fun day of school spirit as we cheer on our national team!
Sand Play Fun
The children have been thoroughly enjoying their time in the sandpit, where their creativity and teamwork have been on full display. They have been busy designing and constructing elaborate tunnels, digging deep holes, and building impressive hills and landscapes. Through their play, the children have been exploring problem-solving, collaboration, and imaginative thinking while developing their fine and gross motor skills. While we remind students to ensure the sand stays in the sandpit, it has been wonderful to see their excitement as they work together to bring their ideas to life and proudly share their creations with others.
Final Day Tomorrow
A reminder that the final day of term concludes with an early dismissal at 2:20pm.
Our End of Term Assembly will commence at 1:50pm in the hall and will include our weekly awards, as well as the ‘Every Day Counts’ Attendance Raffle and PE Award Raffle.
Students who achieved 90% or higher attendance during Term 2 will be in the draw to win a gift voucher, while all recipients of the weekly PE Award this term will also have their name in a hat to win a piece of sporting equipment from the PE prize box.

Year 3 Art: First Nations Mimi Spirits
Students recently explored the history and beliefs surrounding First Nations Mimi spirits—the tall, slender spirit beings from Arnhem Land.
Using a Mimi template, the children selected traditional Indigenous symbols to draw with Sharpies and posca pens, finishing them with authentic earth tones and dot painting. They then added bright tissue paper for the spirits' long arms and wooden skewers for their iconic slender legs.
They look fantastic, well done Year 3s!

PE /Dance Weekly Snapshot
Year 2 PE & Dance
In Dance, Year 2 students explored a joyful Sunshine Dance, using expansive, open sunshine movements to show warmth and brightness. They then combined their learning from previous weeks, blending weather elements such as rain, wind, sunshine and storms to create group sequences that transitioned smoothly between changing weather events. Students worked collaboratively to build expressive, cohesive dances that captured a full day of shifting skies.
In PE, students enjoyed their final session of the Golf Lab clinic, where coaches refined long drive swings and chipping technique. The improvement across all levels has been fantastic, with many students showing stronger power, cleaner contact and growing confidence. It’s been a clinic they’ve absolutely loved, and their progress has been a real highlight.
Champion of the Week Award
Congratulations to Kody in year 6
A huge well‑done to Kody in Year 6 for slowing down, concentrating, and really refining his golf technique during PE. As soon as Kody focused on his swing technique and made a few mindful adjustments, his improvement was incredible. He delivered some beautiful drives — powerful, accurate, and sending the ball flying straight through the “goals.”
Kody showed fantastic self‑discipline and determination. Brilliant effort, Kody!

Unexplained absences
Please check Compass for any unexplained absences for your child/s for 2026, if you could put an explanation for each one before the end of term.
An unexplained absence in compass us a record indicating that a student was marked “not present” (absent or late) without a reason entered by a parent/guardian. It means that school is aware the student is missing but not why.
How to Fix: Under the "Attendance" tab, the "Unexplained" tab lists these absences. Parents can select the relevant dates and click "Explain with Note/Approval" to provide a reason.
Why It Matters: Schools are required to ensure they know the safety of students and keep attendance records, requiring a reason for every day a student is absent/late.

What it is:
Financial Education and Savings:
Saver Plus is a 10-month online program designed to help participants learn about financial management, set savings goals, and develop regular saving habits.
Matched Savings:
Participants who complete the program have their savings matched by ANZ, up to a maximum of $500, which can be used for education-related costs.
Online Delivery:
The program is delivered online, making it accessible to participants across Australia.
Saver Plus is a partnership between ANZ, the Brotherhood of St. Laurence, The Smith Family and Berry Street.
Eligibility: To be eligible, participants need to have a current Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card and an eligible Centrelink payment, have other regular income, be studying themselves or have a child in school, be 18+ years old, and agree to join in free online financial education workshops.
