Principal's Report

Dear Families,

What a fun week!

It’s hard to believe we are approaching the halfway point of the term already! Week 4 has had some amazing highlights including but not limited to Year 4-6 District Athletics, Campfire activities in First Nations, a visit from a real-life ambulance and another successful Year 6 debate!

Congratulations to all 4-6 students who participated in the athletics on Monday. The students yet again represented the school with pride and determination to try their best in all events! See below for more information.

Congratulations also to the Year 6 debating teams, who once again showed their amazing debating talents on Wednesday against Leopold PS, this time with the added challenge of not knowing the topic until 30minutes before the debate. Zara, Charlie and Brianna were successful, with Clancy, Victoria and Lily falling short by one point. Lily and Charlie were both awarded best speaker in their respective debates – a fantastic effort! Thanks too to Eliza for chairing the debate and acting as timekeeper.

A huge thank you to Scott Kerr for volunteering to come and work with the preps on first aid demonstrations and awareness, which including a special look inside a real ambulance!

Bullying No Way – Week!

Well done to all students for their participation in Bullying No Way! Week. This is such an important issue where, as a whole school-community, we say No Way! to bullying. Through our comprehensive and proactive approach to wellbeing and behaviour support, we are committed to working with everyone in our school community to stamp out bullying and maintain a community based on our three values: be respectful, be responsible, be resilient.

Parent Opinion Survey

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation. All families are invited to participate in the survey.

Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 18 August to Friday 19 September 2025. I will send out the invitation via Compass on Monday.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

World Book Day Parade

Next Friday is World Book Day – remember that all families are welcome for our annual Book Day Parade on Friday 22nd August at 9:00am on the basketball court. We look forward to seeing all students dressed up in your amazing costumes as we celebrate the wonderful world of books!

Good luck to the lucky 5/6s attending Camp Kangaroobie next week!! We hope you all have an amazing time and look forward to hearing all about the fun when you return!

The fun never stops!

Year 1 & 2 - Snake in the grass weaving

Students painted grass looking brush strokes on paper and once dried tore into strips. These were glued on to green paper and over the top we added more grass using oil pastels. This then became our weaving loom, ready for our snake to weave 'over and under'. Students created a snake by applying stripes on paper using oil pastels and then cut out a template of a snake. We practiced weaving over and under first, understanding the pattern and then students weaved with the head of the snake first then ending with the tail. Well done Year 1s and 2s, you've done a great job of weaving!

Physical Education News

Dear Families,

This week our Year 4-6 students took part in District Athletics, they rotated around each event in their age group with a few students being selected for 800m and relay.

Our students did absolutely amazing on the day, the Wallington P.S. school spirit and support for one another was top notch! We now have 16 of our Wallington P.S. athletes through to Division on 9th September at Goldsworthy in Corio. This is a record WOW! A notification of this will be sent out to families this week.

Prep-Year 3 have now also been participating in lots of Athletics events in PE and have loved it. Here is a video and a few snaps of both.

Wellbeing at Wallington

Welcome back to Wallington’s weekly wellbeing activities:

This week’s activity looks at what students can do to be successful learners and how to identify when challenging tasks are at a just-right level.

Our students are familiar with our school value of Resilience and the ways that they can show that value using examples from our matrix and this is a lovely discussion point to help celebrate our students growing resilience.
