Wallington P.S. Newsletter Term 1 Week 4 2026
Upcoming Dates
Principal's Report
Dear Families,
Strawberry Fair Fundraising
Voting on using the Strawberry Fair fundraising money concluded on Monday with many exciting projects now set to go ahead. With all ideas receiving support, the most popular projects were the Music Program, STEM, PE Equipment, a whole school performance, Air Conditioning for the Art Room and Hall, an Obstacle Course around the school and Library Furniture. These will be our first priorities, as we continue to make our school even better!
Thank you for everyone who voted – it is so exciting to know that all our hard-earned fundraising is going straight to supporting our students!
Meet & Greet Parent-Teacher Interviews
Thank you for everyone who attended the Meet & Greet Parent Teacher Interviews this week. As we move into the new year, we are so grateful to have the support of parents and carers. True home-school partnerships make such a difference in the educational outcomes of students, and we couldn’t ask for a more supportive and dedicated community. Remember that these conversations were just the start, so if ever there is anything you need, please do not hesitate to reach out!
School Council Nominations and Parents & Friends AGM
As you know, School Council nominations are now open. We are seeking three parent members and two staff members (see Compass News Feed from Monday). The School Council is just one of many ways community members can get involved in supporting the school.
The Parents & Friends also have their first meeting of 2026 this Friday at 9:00 am in the School Hall. A key strength of our school lies in a connected, supportive community, and our P&F plays an important role in facilitating us coming together for a common purpose: enhancing the outcomes and experiences of our students. Everyone - whether a long-time supporter or new to our community - is warmly invited to join and contribute in whatever way works for you.
Congratulations to our 2026 House Captains!
Carter and Olive - Moorabool House (blue).
Zeni and Piper - Barwon House (red).
Alfie and Jack - Connewarre House (green).
Well done also to all Year 6 students who put themselves forward for the role. While you may not have been successful this time, we know that all of you have a role to play in leading our school this year. You are already doing a fantastic job setting that example for the rest of the students, modelling our school values of respect, responsibility and resilience.

PE and Dance
This week in PE, students have been training for our upcoming Cross Country event.
We’ve been learning how to run with a smooth, relaxed, rhythmic style, focusing on what it feels like to keep an even, sustainable pace over a longer distance.
Students have been building confidence in middle‑distance running, practicing how to stay steady, breathe well, and finish strong.
It’s been fantastic to see everyone pushing themselves and supporting each other as we prepare for race day.
Mrs Ratcliffe.
PE/Dance Award -
Congratulations to Jordy in Grade 6.
For showing great determination during our cross‑country training. You gave your absolute best. Your impressive resilience stood out, especially when the running got tough. Well done for pushing hard, staying focused, and inspiring others with their commitment.
Wellbeing at Wallington
We’re excited to share that our school is now a URStrong School!
This means students will be participating in weekly URStrong (FRIENDOLOGY) lessons designed to build strong friendship skills, including kindness, empathy, communication, and problem-solving. Through these engaging lessons, students will continue developing the tools they need to build healthy relationships, navigate social challenges, and feel confident and connected at school.
We will be sharing more about the program in time. For now, feel free to take a look at an overview of the program on our website: https://www.wallington-ps.vic.edu.au/urstrong-friendship-ninjas
