Principal's Report
Dear Families,
SunSmart School
As part of our ongoing commitment to student health and wellbeing, School Council recently received confirmation of our registration with SunSmart Victoria, becoming an officially recognised SunSmart school. Following a review of our SunSmart policy and practices, we are pleased to share that we met all recommended guidelines and have received official accreditation.
For more information about our SunSmart approach, please visit our website: https://www.wallington-ps.vic.edu.au/we-are-sun-smart
Safer Internet Day – Acceptable User Agreements
This week we recognise Safer Internet Day, a global initiative that promotes safe, respectful and responsible use of digital technologies. As part of our ongoing commitment to online safety, students will be reviewing the Wallington PS Acceptable User Agreement with their class.
This annual process provides an opportunity for students, staff and families to revisit our shared expectations around safe and appropriate use of digital technologies. When your child brings the agreement home, we ask that families please read, sign and return the agreement to your child’s classroom teacher.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.
Car Park Safety – Pick Up and Drop Off Reminder
A friendly reminder to observe our established car park safety expectations to keep all students and families safe:
Pick Up & Drop Off:
Model our school values of respect, responsibility and resilience when making use of car park, and showing patience using drop-off zone in front of the school.
If parking along the entry drive or in the main car park, parents/carers must escort children to and from the school gates. Students must not walk through the car park unsupervised.
Follow the clockwise traffic flow (enter through the entry gate and exit via the exit gate).
Observe the 5 km/h speed limit at all times.
Please do not park in incorrect areas, including along the fences as you approach the drop-off zone, or leave your vehicle unattended in the drop-off zone.
Be mindful of bollards and signage in place to guide traffic and pedestrians.
A staff member in high-visibility clothing supervises the area during pick up and drop off times. Please follow their directions.
General Safety:
Take extra care due to the gravel surface and occasional potholes.
Keep gates clear at all times to allow emergency vehicle access.
Students should not be dropped at school before 8:30am.
Please note that yard duty does not begin until 8:45am and students must be supervised by parents/carers until this time.
We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in keeping our school community safe.
Meet & Greet Parent-Teacher Interviews
A final reminder that Meet and Greet Parent-Teacher Interviews are taking place next week, Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th February. Bookings are open on Compass until Monday 4pm. Please feel free to make use of the guiding prompts.
Final Reminder – Fundraising Priority Survey Closes 16 February
Thank you to everyone who has already taken part in our fundraising priorities survey. It’s fantastic to see so many families keen to have their say in how we spend our hard-earned Strawberry Fair funds.
If you haven’t yet had the chance, there is still time. We want to make sure all voices are heard before decisions are finalised. Families can select up to five priorities via the survey link (https://forms.gle/JXMWA9syrK8FrmKs7) or collect a paper copy from the front office.
The survey closes Monday 16 February.
We can’t wait to start putting these funds to work to make our school even better for our students and community!
Clubs
Students are loving all of our clubs on offer, with Library and the Imagination Station open daily, Craft Club Thursdays, and Breakfast Club now every Tuesday and Wednesday!
This week we were so happy to see the return of Garden Club, which will now take place weekly during second lunch on Wednesdays - thank you to the wonderful volunteers!
Next week we will also see the long-awaited return of Minecraft Club! Minecraft will run first lunch Wednesdays with MR KT. Due to its popularity, we will rotate which year levels can attend, with the added option of using 30 SWPBS Tokens to attend on a day that isn’t open to your year level. Next week will be open for Year 6 and Prep, followed by Year 1 and 4/5, and 2 and 3 the week after that.

PE and Dance
PE Snapshot – This Week in Physical Education
Students have been building their cricket skills this week, with a focus on learning how to bowl a cricket ball with correct technique, developing accuracy when throwing and bowling to a target, and practicing how to hit the ball into space to avoid fielders.
It’s been great to see students improving their control, timing, and confidence as they apply these skills in small games and challenges.
Looking forward to more active learning next week.
Mrs Ractliffe
PS: See our house chants below. Have fun practicing.
PE/Dance Award -
Congratulations to Rosie in Year 4/5.

Wellbeing at Wallington
We’re excited to share that our school is now a URStrong School!
This means students will be participating in weekly URStrong (FRIENDOLOGY) lessons designed to build strong friendship skills, including kindness, empathy, communication, and problem-solving. Through these engaging lessons, students will continue developing the tools they need to build healthy relationships, navigate social challenges, and feel confident and connected at school.
We will be sharing more about the program in time. For now, feel free to take a look at an overview of the program on our website: https://www.wallington-ps.vic.edu.au/urstrong-friendship-ninjas
