Principal's Report
Dear Families,
Thanks and Welcome Back!
I want to start by thanking all staff for their support in ensuring a smooth finish to Term 3 while I was on leave. A particular thank you to Mr Ellery for stepping in as Acting Principal and keeping things going in my absence.
Welcome back to Term 4! I hope everyone had a restful and happy school holidays. I know there are a few very happy Brisbane fans who enjoyed the time just that little but more.
We have a huge term of fun ahead, with the Whole School Performance, Strawberry Fair, P–3 Swimming, 4–6 Surfing, Colour Run, Family Picnic, 5/6 Adventure Park Day, end-of-year celebrations and Year 6 Graduation, along with a couple of student-free days and a public holiday thrown in!
There is certainly plenty happening, so keep an eye on the newsletter and Compass calendar to stay across what’s coming up.
Whole School STOMP Performance – ‘Brick to the Future’
We are so excited about our upcoming performance, now less than two weeks away! Students are well and truly into learning their routines and lines as they prepare for the show on Tuesday 20th October. Final logistical details will be shared via Newsfeed early next week, including drop-off and collection information and some details about the venue.
Tickets: The first round of tickets is currently on sale, with a limit of four tickets per family. This first round will close tomorrow night at 11:55pm.
If tickets remain available, we will reopen the ticket portal next week for a second round, with no limit on the number of additional tickets families can purchase.
Props: We are looking for a few 90s related items that will really help bring the performance to life. Please see Mr Ellery’s Newsfeed post from yesterday for the props we are seeking.
Costumes: A reminder that costume ideas are available on Newsfeed. We encourage families to keep things simple and affordable - there is absolutely no need to buy anything new. Clothes from home, hand-me-downs or op-shop finds are perfect. If you need a hand putting a costume together, please reach out to your child’s teacher. Also: we strongly encourage our audience to get into the spirit with a 90s dress-up of their own!
Video Filming: We are also really excited to announce that we have engaged a filming company to record the performance on the night. Using proceeds from ticket sales, the recording will be made available free of charge for all families to stream or download. Separate filming permission is required for all students taking part, and we will send out a consent form in the coming days.
Australian Mathematic Competition
Congratulations to the seven students who took part in the Australian Mathematics Competition last term: River H, Casey, Fletcher, Oliver M, George, Piper and Jaylen!
Held annually, the competition challenges students to apply their mathematical knowledge and problem-solving skills to a range of challenging and thought-provoking questions. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to extend themselves, have a go at unfamiliar problems and experience the satisfaction that comes with tackling something challenging.
Well done to all students for taking part! Certificates will be presented at assembly tomorrow.
E-Bike & E Scooter Incursion
On Friday the 16th of October, at 10:30am, Leading Senior Constable, Tom Holmes from Victoria Police is coming to meet the Grade 4, 5 and 6 classes to do a presentation about safety and laws around e-bikes and e-scooters.
Strawberry Fair Committee Meetings – Thursdays Every Week 3:30pm
As we draw closer to the Strawberry Fair, preparations are starting to step up a gear! Committee meetings will now be held every Thursday at 3:30pm in the school staff room from now until the fair, and everyone is welcome to join.
Very soon, we will also share details about volunteer opportunities, using the same online sign-up platform as last year.
Thank you as ever to everyone working away in the background! Strawberry Fairs a huge team effort and it simply could not happen without everyone getting involved!

PE and Dance
PE & Prep Dance Snapshot of the Week
Prep Dance
This week in Dance, our Prep students were introduced to the exciting world of farms and farm animals. Students explored creative movements that imitated the actions of different animals, using their imagination and body awareness to bring these characters to life. They also reflected on how stories, songs, and dance help connect and celebrate communities, making links between movement, storytelling, and shared experiences.
PE
In PE, students worked on developing the fundamental skills needed for Frisbee. They focused on gripping, passing, and catching the disc while stationary before learning how to cut into space to receive a pass. Through a variety of activities, students practised their throwing and catching skills, building accuracy, coordination, and confidence with the disc. It was fantastic to see students working respectfully with both the equipment and their classmates as they developed the teamwork and movement skills required for Frisbee.
Champion of the Week Award
Raphi (Year 1) 🏆
Congratulations Raphi on being our Champion of the Week! You demonstrated excellent catching skills using the crocodile catch and showed great accuracy, control, and coordination when using a backhand throw in Frisbee.
Your focus, effort, and ability to apply these important movement skills helped you achieve great success. Well done, Raphi!

Unexplained absences
Please check Compass for any unexplained absences for your child/s for 2026, if you could put an explanation for each one before the end of term.
An unexplained absence in compass us a record indicating that a student was marked “not present” (absent or late) without a reason entered by a parent/guardian. It means that school is aware the student is missing but not why.
How to Fix: Under the "Attendance" tab, the "Unexplained" tab lists these absences. Parents can select the relevant dates and click "Explain with Note/Approval" to provide a reason.
Why It Matters: Schools are required to ensure they know the safety of students and keep attendance records, requiring a reason for every day a student is absent/late.
If you need any assistance please contact the Admin team.
