Dear Families,
What a Term!
As we reach the end of another busy and successful term, I would like to extend a huge congratulations to all of our students and families. It has certainly been a term full of activity, excitement and achievement!
There has been so much happening across our school community throughout Term 3, including:

And, in between all of these wonderful events and activities, our students have continued to show incredible dedication, persistence and enthusiasm towards their learning.
It has been wonderful to see our students embrace every opportunity this term and to watch them grow, challenge themselves and celebrate their achievements along the way. Thank you to our families for your ongoing support and to our staff for the enormous amount of work that goes into making each of these experiences possible.
Staffing – Welcome Kat!
A huge congratulations to Kat Stamelos, who will be joining the Wallington PS team next term. We are very excited to welcome Kat to our office team, where she will be working three days each week.
The panel followed our usual recruitment process, with a large number of strong applicants making this a particularly challenging decision. Ultimately, Kat's strong administrative and management background, proactive approach, ability to learn quickly, and her deep understanding of and passion for our school and wider school community made her the panel's preferred candidate.
Kat will officially commence in mid-October. We are looking forward to welcoming her to the team and having her bring her experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to our school.
STOMP Performance – A Brick to the Future
Our students have been working incredibly hard in preparation for our STOMP performance, A Brick to the Future, which will take place early next term. The dances are coming along beautifully, and it has been fantastic to see students practising their routines whenever they get the chance!
Our students with speaking roles have also been busily learning their lines and preparing for their characters. We can't wait to see all of their hard work come together on the night.
Performance Details:
Tuesday 20 October

St Ignatius College Performance Theatre
A very important reminder regarding tickets: there is a limit of FOUR tickets per FAMILY, not per child. This limit is in place to ensure that all families have the opportunity to attend and enjoy this special performance. Tickets are available to purchase through Schools24. Families have until the end of Week 1 next term to purchase their four tickets. If tickets remain available after this time, we may be able to offer additional tickets to families who would like to purchase more.
We will also provide more information regarding costumes for the evening before the end of term, so please keep an eye out for further communication.
Cricket Pitch Works
Work has been underway to resurface our cricket pitch, using funds raised through our 2025 Strawberry Fair.
We are very pleased that these works are progressing well, with the pitch expected to be ready for students to use at the beginning of Term 4. We look forward to seeing our students making the most of this fantastic improvement to our outdoor spaces.
Mosquito Awareness
With reports of an increase in mosquito numbers in the area, I encourage families to remain vigilant in helping to keep our students comfortable and protected.
Families can help by choosing to apply mosquito repellent or mosquito repellent stickers before school and encouraging students to wear long, loose-fitting clothing where practical.
If your child uses sunscreen, please remember to apply sunscreen first, followed by insect repellent. As always, repellent should be used according to the product instructions and age recommendations.
Footy Colours Day – Tomorrow!
A reminder that tomorrow, Friday 18 September, is our Footy Colours Day!
Students are invited to wear the colours of their favourite team as we celebrate the final day of Term 3.
Our Grade 6 students will also be running football activities for the whole school during the morning sessions. We are looking forward to seeing plenty of footy colours around the school and enjoying a fun day together.
Special Lunch – Also Tomorrow!
A final reminder that our Term 3 Special Lunch is also happening tomorrow, Friday 18 September.
Thank you to our P&F for organising another wonderful special lunch for our students. We hope everyone enjoys their lunch!
Lost Property
Our Lost Property collection is piling up!
We encourage families to take a few minutes to have a look through the Lost Property before the end of term to see whether any missing jumpers, drink bottles, hats, lunch boxes or other belongings might belong to your family.
There are quite a few items waiting to be reunited with their owners!
Final Day Assembly
Our final assembly will begin tomorrow at 1:45pm and will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our students throughout the term.
We will be drawing our Every Day Counts End of Term Attendance Raffle, with all students who have achieved our attendance target of 90% or above this term automatically entered into the draw.
We will also be drawing our PE Champion of the Term. All students who have been awarded the weekly PE Champion award throughout the term will go into the draw for this special recognition.
We look forward to celebrating our students and their achievements together at our final assembly.
Final Day of Term
A reminder that the final day of Term 3 concludes with an early dismissal at 2:20pm.
As we come to the end of another wonderful term, I would like to wish all of our students and families a very happy, safe and restful holiday break.
Thank you for your continued support of our school community throughout the term. We hope everyone enjoys some well-deserved time to relax, recharge and spend time together.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back for what promises to be an exciting and action-packed Term 4.

Vibrant Textiles in Year 4/5/6!
Our Year 4/5/6 students have been busy channeling their inner textile artists! This term, the classes explored the captivating work of Victoria Villasana, a Mexican artist famed for her dynamic, colorful embroidery overlaid on monochrome images.
Taking inspiration from her unique style, our students selected a black-and-white photograph of a person they admire. Using needles, thread, and vibrant wool, they carefully stitched intricate patterns over specific areas of the images to add texture, color, and personality.
The finishing pieces look absolutely fantastic!

PE and Dance
PE /Dance Weekly Snapshot
Grade 1 Dance Snapshot
This week, our Grade 1 students explored a variety of fun and engaging dance games that helped develop creativity, coordination, listening skills, and confidence through movement.
Students enjoyed Musical Statues, experimenting with different ways of travelling and creating still shapes when the music stopped. They also participated in Graffiti Art, using imaginative movements to "draw" letters and shapes with different parts of their bodies, encouraging creativity and improvisation. Another favourite was Centre Stage/Simon Says, where students practised responding to directions, exploring stage spaces, and performing different actions and movements.
It has been wonderful to see students enthusiastically expressing themselves through dance while building their movement skills, body awareness, and confidence in a fun and supportive environment.
PE Snapshot
This week, students wrapped up their Badminton Program with coaches John and M from Badminton Geelong. We have been incredibly pleased with the positive growth in student skill development and confidence throughout the program.
During the final session, students had the opportunity to put all the skills they have been practising into action, with many successfully participating in sustained rallies with a partner. Throughout the program, students developed their forehand and backhand shots, overhead hits, ready position, hand-eye coordination, movement around the court, and the ability to control both power and accuracy. It was wonderful to see students applying these skills in game-like situations and demonstrating excellent sportsmanship and persistence.
A big thank you to John and M for delivering such an engaging and enjoyable program. We look forward to seeing students continue to build on these skills during future PE lessons.
Sporting Schools Grant Success
We are excited to share that Wallington Primary School has once again been successful in securing funding through the Sporting Schools program for Term 4.
We are incredibly grateful for this opportunity, as the funding allows us to provide students with experiences and sporting opportunities they may not otherwise have the chance to access. Grants such as these play an important role in helping us introduce new sports, engage specialist coaches, and provide quality sporting equipment that enhances student learning and participation.
We have many exciting ideas for how this funding can be used to support our students and continue building a positive and engaging PE program. We are looking forward to creating opportunities for students to try new activities, develop new skills, and build confidence through sport and physical activity.
A huge thank you to Sporting Schools for supporting schools like ours. We are thrilled to have been successful once again and can't wait to put this funding to great use for the benefit of all our students.
Champion of the Week Award
Congratulations to Eddie from Prep, for being our PE Champion of the Week!
Eddie has done a fantastic job practising his badminton rallies this week. He has shown great focus and determination as he worked on keeping the shuttlecock in play, watching it carefully, and using controlled hits to continue a rally with a partner. Eddie always approaches activities with enthusiasm and is willing to keep trying, even when skills are challenging.
Keep up the excellent work, Eddie! Your persistence, positive attitude, and effort to improve your badminton skills have been wonderful to see. Well done!

Notice Board
Unexplained absences
Please check Compass for any unexplained absences for your child/s for 2026, if you could put an explanation for each one before the end of term.
An unexplained absence in compass us a record indicating that a student was marked “not present” (absent or late) without a reason entered by a parent/guardian. It means that school is aware the student is missing but not why.
How to Fix: Under the "Attendance" tab, the "Unexplained" tab lists these absences. Parents can select the relevant dates and click "Explain with Note/Approval" to provide a reason.
Why It Matters: Schools are required to ensure they know the safety of students and keep attendance records, requiring a reason for every day a student is absent/late.

Compass notifications
Are you receiving notifications of Campass?
Compass has recommended that you try the following:
1) Ensure that your app is updated to the most recent version.
2) Check in settings to ensure that you have all the notifications settings on.
3) Confirm that your mobile number and email address is correct in Parent Portal -> Update My Details. Changes are sent to school administrators for confirmation.
4) Confirm affected recipients are not marked Do Not Contact.
The Admin team are here to help should you need further assistance.

What it is:
Financial Education and Savings:
Saver Plus is a 10-month online program designed to help participants learn about financial management, set savings goals, and develop regular saving habits.
Matched Savings:
Participants who complete the program have their savings matched by ANZ, up to a maximum of $500, which can be used for education-related costs.
Online Delivery:
The program is delivered online, making it accessible to participants across Australia.
Saver Plus is a partnership between ANZ, the Brotherhood of St. Laurence, The Smith Family and Berry Street.
Eligibility: To be eligible, participants need to have a current Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card and an eligible Centrelink payment, have other regular income, be studying themselves or have a child in school, be 18+ years old, and agree to join in free online financial education workshops.
