Principal's Report
Dear Families,
It has been a real pleasure to step into the role of Acting Principal while Cameron has been away. I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work closely with our students, staff and families in this capacity and have loved seeing all the wonderful things happening across our school. It has certainly been a busy and exciting time, and I am very grateful for the warm welcome and support I have received from our school community.
STOMP Performance – A Brick to the Future
Our students have been busy rehearsing for our upcoming STOMP performance, A Brick to the Future, which will take place early next term. The dances are coming along beautifully, and I have even spotted students practising their routines in the yard during lunchtime!
All students who auditioned for speaking roles have now been allocated their characters and are busily learning and practising their lines. Who knows, we might just have the next Toni Collette or Hugh Jackman amongst us!
Tickets will be available to purchase through Schools24 from tomorrow. To ensure that all families have the opportunity to attend and enjoy the performance, there will initially be a limit of four tickets per family. Families will have until the end of Week 1, next term to purchase their tickets. If tickets are still available after this time, we may be able to offer additional tickets to families who would like to purchase more.

We are very excited to see our students take to the stage and showcase all of their hard work!
Footy Colours Day – Friday 18 September
To finish the term on a high, students are invited to wear the colours of their favourite footy team on the final day of term.
Our Grade 6 students will be running football activities for the whole school during the morning sessions. I know Mr KT has been training for this day for months and is very excited to finally see it arrive!
We are looking forward to a fun-filled day celebrating our students' love of footy and finishing the term together as a school community.
Special Lunch Orders Close Friday 11 September
A reminder to families to get your orders in for our Term 3 Special Lunch, taking place on Friday 18 September. Orders close tomorrow, Friday 11 September. Please see the details in the P&F section below. Please note: lunch orders from Groove Café will not be available on this day.
Celebrating Positive Attendance
Last term, we celebrated the strong attendance of many of our students through their entry into our Every Day Counts raffle, and it is that time of the term again!
We are pleased to celebrate the many students who have achieved our attendance target of 90% or above this term. Consistent attendance helps students build strong learning habits, maintain friendships, participate fully in classroom experiences and make the most of every opportunity our school has to offer.
Parents and carers of students who have achieved this milestone will shortly receive a Compass message congratulating them on their child's positive attendance. These students will also automatically be entered into our Every Day Counts End of Term Attendance Raffle, which will be drawn at our final assembly on the last day of term.
Whether your child has achieved the target this term or is still working towards it, every day at school makes a difference. We encourage all students to continue building positive attendance habits, and we look forward to celebrating even more success in the future.

Every day, our staff put a huge amount of effort, care and pride into the work we do at Wallington Primary. But without your feedback, we don't have a complete picture of how that work is being experienced by our families, what is working well and where we can continue to improve.
This is a simple but genuinely influential way to help shape the direction of our school. The more families who respond, the clearer and more representative the picture we have.

Final Day of Term
A reminder that the final day of Term 3 concludes with an early dismissal at 2:20pm.
I wish all of our students and families a wonderful final week of term. There is certainly plenty happening across the school, and I look forward to celebrating with our students as we finish the term together.

This was specifically requested by some Grade 6 students who attended our P&F meeting!

Father’s Day Bags! Prep to Year 6
To celebrate Father’s Day and the special people in our lives, students across all year levels have been busy putting their creative talents to work during art! Every year group designed and crafted something unique to say a big thank you to their dads, grandfathers, or special role models.

PE /Dance Weekly Snapshot
PE: Badminton Skills in Action
Students continued developing their badminton skills this week, focusing on the Overhead Forehand Swing and Forehand Serve.
Working with partners, students practised striking the shuttle overhead and serving accurately over the net. These activities helped develop hand-eye coordination, balance, timing, racquet control and movement skills, while encouraging students to work cooperatively and persist when learning new techniques.
It has been fantastic to see students' confidence grow as they continue to build their badminton skills through our Sporting Schools program.
Year 1 Dance: Creating a Weather Dance Sequence
This week, our Year 1 students combined everything they have learned about rain, sunshine, wind and storms to create their own weather-themed dance sequences.
Through improvisation and group work, students explored different ways to represent weather using movement before collaborating with classmates to create and perform a short dance. It was wonderful to see students using their creativity, teamwork and confidence to bring their ideas to life.
The performances showcased some fantastic imagination, and students should be very proud of the enthusiasm and effort they brought to their dancing this week!
Champion of the Week Award
Champion of the Week – Marcelo (Grade 1)
Congratulations to Marcelo for being our PE Champion of the Week!
Marcelo has done an outstanding job developing his badminton overhead shot this week. He has shown great focus when positioning himself under the shuttlecock, using the correct grip, and swinging with confidence to make strong and accurate shots. Marcelo always gives his best effort, listens carefully to feedback, and is willing to keep practising to improve his skills.
Keep up the fantastic work, Marcelo! Your enthusiasm, persistence, and positive attitude towards learning new skills have been wonderful to see. Well done!

Notice Board
Unexplained absences
Please check Compass for any unexplained absences for your child/s for 2026, if you could put an explanation for each one before the end of term.
An unexplained absence in compass us a record indicating that a student was marked “not present” (absent or late) without a reason entered by a parent/guardian. It means that school is aware the student is missing but not why.
How to Fix: Under the "Attendance" tab, the "Unexplained" tab lists these absences. Parents can select the relevant dates and click "Explain with Note/Approval" to provide a reason.
Why It Matters: Schools are required to ensure they know the safety of students and keep attendance records, requiring a reason for every day a student is absent/late.

Compass notifications
Are you receiving notifications of Campass?
Compass has recommended that you try the following:
1) Ensure that your app is updated to the most recent version.
2) Check in settings to ensure that you have all the notifications settings on.
3) Confirm that your mobile number and email address is correct in Parent Portal -> Update My Details. Changes are sent to school administrators for confirmation.
4) Confirm affected recipients are not marked Do Not Contact.
The Admin team are here to help should you need further assistance.

SAVER PLUS
What it is:
Financial Education and Savings:
Saver Plus is a 10-month online program designed to help participants learn about financial management, set savings goals, and develop regular saving habits.
Matched Savings:
Participants who complete the program have their savings matched by ANZ, up to a maximum of $500, which can be used for education-related costs.
Online Delivery:
The program is delivered online, making it accessible to participants across Australia.
Saver Plus is a partnership between ANZ, the Brotherhood of St. Laurence, The Smith Family and Berry Street.
Eligibility: To be eligible, participants need to have a current Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card and an eligible Centrelink payment, have other regular income, be studying themselves or have a child in school, be 18+ years old, and agree to join in free online financial education workshops.
