Principal's Report

Dear Families,

Brick to the Future – What a Night!

What an incredible night! Our Brick to the Future performance was a huge success, and we couldn’t be prouder of our students and the way they embraced this opportunity. Performing in front of a packed, sell-out crowd was a fantastic achievement, and the excitement, energy and enthusiasm on display made it a night to remember!

At Wallington, we facilitate a culture of embracing opportunities because you never know what you might discover, enjoy or achieve until you give something a go! This is exactly why we aim to offer students a broad range of experiences, allowing them to explore their interests, challenge themselves and discover new talents.

A huge thank you to our students and families for getting behind the performance, from preparing costumes to supporting rehearsals and helping students feel ready for the big night. Seeing our students take to the stage with such enthusiasm was incredibly rewarding.

The performance was fully funded through last year’s Strawberry Fair fundraising - another wonderful example of how our community’s efforts are directly benefiting our students. From new library furniture, wellbeing furniture, and air conditioning for the hall and art room, to our new cricket pitch, supplementary funding for specialist programs, and now this incredible performance, every dollar raised from last year’s fair has now been spent directly on improving the experiences for our students!

Our sincere thanks also go to St Ignatius College for generously hosting the event, and to STOMP Dance Co. for their performance package, support and encouragement throughout the journey.

Finally, an enormous thank you to all our staff who helped bring the performance to life, particularly Mr Ellery, who put an extraordinary amount of work into preparing our students. From rehearsals and props to communication and countless behind-the-scenes details, our collective commitment helped make the night a memorable experience for everyone involved.

Performance Video

Once the professionally filmed recording is ready, the link will be shared via Compass Newsfeed for Wallington families to enjoy and download free of charge.

As a reminder, the recording is for families’ private and personal use only. In keeping with our approach to all school photos and videos, please do not share, upload or distribute the recording beyond your own private digital family library. This helps us respect the privacy and permissions of everyone involved.

Thank you again to everyone who contributed to making Brick to the Future such a fantastic celebration of our students, our staff and our school community. What a wonderful reminder of what we can achieve together!

‍ ‍

This week in Garden club, the kids got creative and made some caterpillars out of recycled materials and decorated some old CDs (with a few stories from Mr KT about what we used to use them for).

The kids also enjoyed some refreshing lemon ice blocks to help cool down!

And to finish off, here’s a little Garden Club giggle!

Why was the caterpillar so good at gardening?

Because it had lots of growing to do!

Thank you from the Garden club team!

Out with the Old, In with the New!

We’re making way for a new hothouse in our school garden! Our old hothouse, chook shed and any parts are FREE to anyone willing to dismantle and remove them. If you or someone you know is interested, please contact the school office. See photos below or feel free to come and have a look!

Art & Music

Prep to Year 2 - Calico bags

“I wish the whole world was made out of lines only.” This inspiring quote from 11-year-old child artist Alf Barbel (Wit Peters) sparked creativity in our Prep to Year 2 students.

Inspired by Alf’s freedom of style and child-led imagination, our junior students stepped into the world of abstract art. Using a vibrant mix of acrylic paint, Posca pens, and oil sticks, everyone designed and created their very own masterpiece on a calico bag.

Students experimented with bold lines, intricate patterns, and bright bursts of colour. The final pieces look absolutely amazing, turning everyday bags into works of art. Be sure to look out for these stunning, joyful creations in the corridor of the main building.

Notice Board

Unexplained absences

Please check Compass for any unexplained absences for your child/s for 2026, if you could put an explanation for each one before the end of term.

An unexplained absence in compass us a record indicating that a student was marked “not present” (absent or late) without a reason entered by a parent/guardian. It means that school is aware the student is missing but not why.

How to Fix: Under the "Attendance" tab, the "Unexplained" tab lists these absences. Parents can select the relevant dates and click "Explain with Note/Approval" to provide a reason.

Why It Matters: Schools are required to ensure they know the safety of students and keep attendance records, requiring a reason for every day a student is absent/late.

If you need any assistance please contact the Admin team.
