Principal's Report
Dear Families,
Bunyip Camp
Bunyip Camp was once again a huge success, with students enjoying all the activities, from the magic show and cooking to the night walk and, of course, meeting the bunyip!
A heartfelt thank you goes not only to our dedicated staff but especially to our incredible parent volunteers who came along to help throughout the camp. These unique and special occasions simply wouldn’t be possible without your generosity and support. Your contributions made the camp run so smoothly and ensured the students had a truly memorable experience. The students are incredibly fortunate to have such caring and helpful staff and families.
The benefits of these experiences are enormous, as they build social and emotional skills, resilience, and responsibility, and most importantly, give our students lasting memories and joyful experiences at school. This is everything we love about our school — well done and thank you to all involved!
This week, the excitement of school camp comes to Years 3 and 4, with our 3/4 camp experience happening today and tomorrow!
Hats On – SunSmart Season Has Begun
With the sunshine returning and warmer days ahead, it’s the perfect time to remind everyone that our SunSmart season has started. From September through to April, all students are required to wear a sun-protective hat (broad-brimmed school hat) whenever they’re outside.
If a hat is forgotten, students will be asked to spend break times in the shade of the Imagination Station. This way, everyone can still enjoy their time outdoors while staying safe.
Thank you for helping us encourage lifelong SunSmart habits. By working together, we can keep our kids happy, healthy, and sun safe while they enjoy the best of spring and summer. For more tips and information, visit the SunSmart Victoria website: www.sunsmart.com.au.
Debating - Chilwell PS
Our Year 6 debaters did a fantastic job yesterday when they travelled to Chilwell Primary School for their final round of debates. The topic was “That schools should teach life skills”, and both teams put forward thoughtful, well-prepared arguments.
Victoria, Lily and Brianna debated on the negative side, while Piper, Zara and Charlie took on the affirmative. All students spoke with confidence and showed great teamwork, even though Chilwell came away with the wins on the day. Congratulations to Chilwell for their strong performance.
This was the last of the debating rounds for the year, with finals taking place next term. We’re not sure yet if either of our teams will make it through, but we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed!
A special thank you to Brianna and Piper for stepping up and filling in when others were unavailable, and for doing an amazing job for their teams.
We are very proud of all of our debaters for their effort, growth and dedication this year.
Curriculum Day Confirmed - Friday 7th November
Please note that there will be a Curriculum Day (Student Free Day) on Friday 7th November. This has been added to the Compass Calendar for your information. There will be one further Student Free Day later in Term 4 (date to be confirmed).
Parent Opinion Survey – Now Open
Thank you to those parents who continue to complete this year’s Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey. If you haven’t yet completed the short survey, it will be open until Friday 19 September 2025. The survey is online and only takes 20 minutes to complete. Please refer to the unique log in information available on your Compass Newsfeed.
The more parents and carers who complete the survey, the more valuable the information will be in supporting our school’s ongoing improvement.

STEM & First Nations Studies
Dear Families,
We’re looking for a helping hand from our school community! Mr Vaught needs some assistance with fixing up the fence and gates on the school oval. This small job will make a big difference in keeping the rabbits out and protect our oval from further damage.
If you’ve got the skills (or just the enthusiasm!) and a little bit of time, we’d love your support. Please let us know if you’re able to help.
