Principal's Report

Dear Families,

3/4 Camp Experience

To complete this year’s round of camps, the 3/4 students took part in two days of fun and adventure last week, and I was privileged to join them throughout. On Thursday the students travelled to Kryal Castle and took part in a day of activities and learning. The highlight for many was the much-anticipated ‘siege’, where everyone was given a sword and a shield and took part in battles – and having a little go myself, I can say that sword fighting is a lot harder than it looks!

Upon return, students stayed overnight at school, enjoying pizza and either watching How to Train Your Dragon or the football. On Friday, we were up at the crack of dawn, and after breakfast we headed down to the Melbourne Zoo. Students broke into small groups and planned their own adventures around the enclosures. There was plenty to see and the students had a great time discovering old and new favourites! Thank you to Miss Cook, Mrs Duckett, Miss Ritchie, Janelle and Mr KT for organising and supporting the students through the camp. It was a wonderful success, and the students had a fantastic time.

PE Teaching

This week we send best wishes to our wonderful PE teacher, Amy Parsons, as she heads away for a two-month family adventure! Amy will be taking Long Service Leave until the start of December. In the meantime, we welcome back Lisa Macys, who will return to the PE role in Amy’s absence.

Parent Opinion Survey – Final Week

We have one more week for parents and carers to complete this year’s Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey, which closes on Friday 19th September 2025. If you haven’t yet had the chance, we’d greatly appreciate you taking 20 minutes to share your feedback online using the unique login details on your Compass Newsfeed.

The survey is an important opportunity for every family to have their voice heard. The more parents and carers who take part, the more accurate and useful the results will be in reflecting our school community as a whole. Your feedback helps us identify areas for improvement and what is working well. Thank you to those who have already completed the survey—we’d love to see even more families contribute before the closing date!

P&F Events

It’s a big finish to the term for our P&F events, with so many students set to enjoy this Friday’s special lunch, footy colours day and P&F Disco! A huge thanks to the P&F volunteers who continue to do a fantastic job of creating opportunities for our lucky students to have fun and support our community, such as the Father’s Day stall last week. Money raised continues to support our basketball rings, which are now so close to our target that we have made arrangements with the company to install in mid Term 4, with further funds being raised through Strawberry Fair set to achieve our collective aim! This is a great example of how, by working together, we can make sure that every dollar raised goes towards supporting our students in meaningful ways.

Strawberry Fair Tickets – Now On Sale

Just a reminder that Strawberry Fair pre-sale all-access passes are available and selling well! For only $45 per person, Wallington PS students and families can enjoy unlimited rides and activities all day, including the Sizzler, Chair-o-plane, Dodgem Cars, Go Gator Rollercoaster, Puppy Yoga, Pony Rides and the Petting Zoo.

With individual tickets at $10 each on the day, these passes are a real bargain. Pre-sale passes must be purchased before the event, with wristbands handed out in the week of the Fair. Order now through COMPASSTIX: https://compasstix.com/event/0c0a0e1c-d72a-414b-bcb4-074ab7c0fe6f

Calling Strawberry Fair Volunteers!

As you know, the Strawberry Fair volunteer sign-up is also open, and we need all of your help to make it a success! We understand that people have different commitments and we are so appreciative of all offers of help – both on the day and in the lead-up. This support is especially important in achieving one of the key aims of the fair: to connect and unite us as a school community, demonstrating the values that underpin our love of this school. We know that community and connection are a key reason families choose and love our school, with many seeking more ways to get involved – it’s events like this where we can all thrive in this reality.

Please continue to sign up for as many spots as you can – every extra pair of hands makes a huge difference. Sign-up is quick and easy through 'Sign-up' at this link: https://signup.com/go/jkYoZjr

Division Athletics

Our Wallington Athletes did an amazing job on the day. They represented our school with pride. Cheering each other on in their events.

The level jumps up quite high for divisions. Our children still performed really well. We had Kyomi achieve PB’s in both 800m and 1500m she came 3rd in 1500m and 2nd in 800m, so now progresses onto 800m Regional level of Athletics next term. We also had Nathan perform amazingly in High jump coming 3rd jumping over 140cm. Well done everyone and thanks for all the parent support!

Here’s a few pics.

Thanks

Amy Parsons

Year 6 Lightning Premiership Basketball

Today our Year 6 students competed in the Lightning Premiership basketball competition, with both the boys’ and girls’ teams playing four games each. The boys won 1 game and lost 3, while the girls had a strong day on the court, winning 3 games and drawing 1, which sees them progress through to the next round.

It was wonderful to see every student contributing, showing great teamwork, and upholding our school values. Players encouraged one another, showed excellent sportsmanship, and even took the time to explain the rules to those less familiar with basketball.

Congratulations to all students for their effort and spirit, and best of luck to our girls’ team as they move on to the next stage!

Cheers,

Daniel Anderson

Wellbeing at Wallington

Welcome back to Wallington’s weekly wellbeing activities,

We’re on the home stretch of a short but very busy term! This week students are reflecting on the signs that they are not ready to learn and reviewing the strategies they are using to get themselves back to the ready to learn headspace. Are there strategies that are working well for them? Are there strategies that they’ve tried in these weekly activities that they could add to their list?
