Principal's Report
Dear Families,
Strawberry Fair
What an incredible day and an outstanding community effort! Thank you to all our parents, carers, and families for your generosity, passion, and hard work in bringing the Strawberry Fair to life in 2025. Together, we achieved everything we set out to do and more - strengthening community connections, showcasing our wonderful school, and fundraising for future improvements for our students. The teamwork, commitment, and spirit shown throughout the planning and on the day created a renewed sense of pride and connectedness across our community. With thousands of visitors, strengthened local partnerships, and plenty of fun for our students, the Fair was a true celebration of who we are as a school. We’re also thrilled to know that the event raised an incredible $46,200 for the school - an outstanding result!
Remember, we will conduct our debrief Strawberry Fair Committee meeting next Tuesday 11th November at the usual meeting time (2:20pm – 3:20pm). We also ask for feedback via the Google Form as we seek to build on the success of this year as part of our commitment to ongoing improvement. The form is also a chance to garner ideas for school improvements so make sure you let us know how you think the money should be spent!
Curriculum Day - Tomorrow Friday 7th November
Just a reminder that tomorrow (Friday 7th November) is a student-free day. Please enjoy a safe and restful long weekend after a busy couple of weeks!
Bike Ed – Year 5/6
We’re excited about the return of the Bike Education Program for our Year 5/6 students in Weeks 7 and 8. This program helps students build essential bike handling and road safety skills, supporting their confidence, independence, and awareness as young riders in the community.
Bike Ed is an important part of the Victorian Health and Physical Education curriculum, teaching students how to ride safely, share the road responsibly, and make informed decisions as cyclists and pedestrians. Beyond safety, it promotes physical fitness, coordination, and lifelong healthy habits - all while being great fun!
A huge thank you to Mr Anderson for undertaking the training and organising this valuable program for our students. Further details, including schedules and permission information, are available on Compass.
We look forward to seeing our students learning, riding, and growing through this fantastic hands-on experience!
Swimming P-4
Our Prep - 4 Swimming Program will also take place in Weeks 7 and 8, giving students the opportunity to develop vital water safety and swimming skills in a fun, supportive environment.
Learning to swim is an essential part of growing up in Australia - it’s not just about enjoyment, but about building confidence, safety, and respect for the water. The program aligns with the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 and the National Swimming and Water Safety Framework, ensuring that students gain skills to help them be safe and capable around pools, rivers, and the beach.
Swimming lessons help children improve strength, coordination, and resilience, while also fostering teamwork and perseverance.
All details are available on Compass. We look forward to seeing our students dive in, learn new skills, and make a splash in their swimming journey!
Cyber-Safety: Working Together to Keep Our Children Safe Online
At Wallington, we value the important role the digital world plays in children’s lives and are committed to supporting students to be safe and responsible online. We follow the guidance of the eSafety Commissioner and the Department of Education and encourage all families to access information available through eSafety.gov.au and the Victorian Government’s Safe Socials resources for parents and carers.
Our students learn about respectful and responsible technology use through our Student-Friendly ICT User Agreement, but online safety is most effective when schools and families work together.
To help children stay safe and confident online, the eSafety Commissioner recommends that parents and carers:
Monitor device use — regularly check what apps, websites and platforms your child is using.
Set screen-time limits — balance online use with offline activities and family interaction.
Understand the age limits — from 10 December 2025, under the Online Safety Amendment (Social Media Minimum Age) Act 2024, age-restricted social-media platforms will be required to prevent account creation by users under 16.
Discuss online experiences openly — talk about what your child is doing online, who they interact with and how they feel.
By following expert advice from the eSafety Commissioner and maintaining open communication at home, we can support every student to develop the confidence and skills to navigate the online world safely and responsibly.
World Teachers Day – Last Friday
The Wallington PS staff wish to extend their sincere thanks to the P&F, Garden Club, and the students involved in providing the special morning tea last week acknowledging World Teachers Day! Our staff are so passionate about supporting our students and families and our community could not be more fortunate to have such an energetic, generous, and caring group of professionals supporting our students each and every day!
And finally, Some Even More Exciting News: Our Junior Basketball Rings Are Coming!
After many, many extraordinary fundraising efforts - showcasing incredible perseverance, teamwork, and community spirit - our junior basketball rings are set to be installed over the next week! We cannot express enough gratitude to everyone who contributed, particularly our amazing P&F, whose dedication and energy have made this student-driven improvement to our school grounds possible.
This achievement is yet another shining example of what we can accomplish when our humble but mighty school community comes together. Our students should be so proud - their passion for basketball has inspired the community to get behind them and improve our facilities, to improve our skills!
A huge thank you also goes to our Junior School Council, whose leadership and enthusiasm have helped guide this project from idea to reality. This is more than just basketball rings - it’s another celebration of community, collaboration, and what we can achieve together!

Wellbeing at Wallington
Welcome to Wallington’s weekly wellbeing activities.
This week's activity asks students to try a new regulation strategy. They can move their bodies to different tempos and notice how their bodies feel. How does their favourite song make them feel? Is it different to listening to something classical or jazz?
