Principal's Report

Dear Families,

P&F End of Year Picnic

Thank you to all the parents and families who attended our end of year Family Picnic last Friday afternoon! What a wonderful way to celebrate the end of the year with families and staff. A special thank you to the P&F for helping organise the event, Kirsty and the Booln Booln Cultural for conducting the welcome to country and smoking ceremony, and to the Wallington CFA for helping Santa attend to deliver all the presents!

Year 6 Graduation

On Tuesday evening, our Year 6 students, their families and staff enjoyed a wonderful Graduation celebration, recognising the achievements of the Class of 2025. Congratulations to all our Year 6 graduates - you should be incredibly proud of yourselves!

Well done to everyone for the outstanding speeches and performance, and congratulations to all award recipients. Thank you to our staff and parents for their support in making the evening such a success, with special thanks to Daniel Anderson for his organisation and leadership. I wish all Year 6s every success as they move forward into the next chapter, and extend an additional thank you and good luck to graduating Wallington families!

Music Performance – Geelong Arts Centre

Well done to all the Wallington music students who performed at the end of year music concert, in association with At School Music. Andrew Wheeler does a fantastic job supporting students with his individual music lessons at Wallington and at schools across Geelong. Our students revelled in the chance to perform on the stage with a professional production team and a very supportive audience at the Story House Theatre, Geelong Arts Centre. Having also had the privilege myself to play guitar and perform with Andrew, his brother Pat, and several other teachers from various schools on the night as part of the Teachers Band, I know just how nerve-racking it can be to perform in front of an audience! All performers did a fantastic job and should be very proud of their efforts!

Garden Club Morning Tea - Tomorrow

Don’t forget that we are celebrating the amazing Garden Club team tomorrow before school (8:45am) and as a special thank you and farewell to the incredible Kat! Kat has been an outstanding contributor to Wallington in her many years as a parent, both as Garden Club guru and helping in so many school activities and events! Kat leaves an incredible legacy, seen in the gardens across the school and felt in the hearts and minds of so many staff, students and families.

Happy Holidays!

As the school year draws to a close, we take time to reflect on and celebrate what has been another big and memorable year at Wallington in 2025.

Our students have enjoyed a wide range of learning experiences and events, including STOMP, Book Week, Bunyip Camp, the Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 camp experiences, Lightning Premiership sports, athletics and cross-country days, and our swimming program. We have also seen the continued growth of Breakfast Club, the establishment of our food bank, and the success of a range of lunchtime clubs that support connection and wellbeing.

This year also marked the reintroduction of Bike Education and the Rotary Award, both valuable additions to our student programs. Our School Review was another significant milestone, providing clear direction and setting us up to make Wallington an even better school over the next four years.

Of course, 2025 also saw the much-celebrated return of the Strawberry Fair - a truly fantastic collective achievement by our community to revive this much-loved annual tradition. Alongside this, we have been thrilled to see our school renovations come to life, including the new classrooms, wellbeing room, meeting room, two breakout rooms (with some of the best views on the Bellarine!), and the beautiful gardens and activity spaces so generously established and supported by our parent community.

We also reflect with gratitude on another year of significant contributions from our Parents & Friends. Through fundraising and events such as the Disco, Colour Run, special lunches, Mother’s and Father’s Day stalls, the Easter raffle, and the Election Day BBQ, P&F continue to make an enormous impact on our school. Thank you to all P&F members and supporters for your wonderful work throughout the year.

Thank you to our students, staff, families and wider community for your ongoing support in 2025. We wish everyone a safe, restful and happy holiday break and look forward to welcoming you back in the new year.

Art

Dear Families,

Graduating Bears of 2025 (some are absent)

Congratulations to Year 6 for graduating! Wishing you all the best for 2026!

Michelle Bishop (Visual Arts Coordinator)

Year 1 & 2 - Collage Landscapes

These collage landscapes have an enormous amount of skill building involved. Students created all their collage paper by rubbing crayons over stencils and then painting over the rubbings with watercolour paint. They learned that a landscape is made of a foreground, middle ground and background and how something is bigger at the front and smaller further away in the background. Year 1 & 2 learned about layering and overlapping and cut appropriate shapes for different parts of their landscapes. Absolutely stunning! Well done 1/2s!

Merry Christmas everyone! See you in 2026!
