Dear Families,
Easter Raffle and Guess the Eggs
Congratulations to the lucky winners of the Easter raffle this afternoon! A special congratulations to Artie in Prep for guessing the closest number of eggs in the jar. Once again, a huge thank you to the P&F for coordinating these two fundraisers, with proceeds from the raffle going towards Year 6 Graduation gifts and leaves, and donations for the Guess the Egg competition going to the Good Friday Appeal.
Prep-2 Grandparents Day
How wonderful it was to welcome grandparents of Prep/1/2 this morning to join in with Easter celebrations. A test of creativity and dexterity, students loved working with their visitors to create their Easter hats, which they proudly showed off during the Easter Hat Parade! Thank you to all grandparents and special guests who came along to support the students.
School Council 2026
Last night, the 2026 School Council met for the first time, bringing together both new and returning members. It was a great first meeting, with the group starting out with a strong focus on further strengthening the connection between our school, families and the broader community.
A key focus for the year ahead is continuing to unify our school community and draw on the wide range of skills, perspectives and expertise available, whether through School Council, our P&F, or the many families and community members who contribute in different ways.
Thank you to all members for their willingness to serve our school. We also extend our thanks to our office bearers, Kieran Thomson as School Council President and Michelle Kallady as Treasurer. Together, they form a positive, enthusiastic team, and we look forward to the work ahead.
New Lunch Order Provider - Groove Cafe
We are excited to announce that we will be using the Groove Cafe for lunch orders from next term. Yummy, fresh café food that focuses on vibrant, seasonal ingredients, combining comforting staples with healthy, modern twists. All from a local cafe that we all know and love.
Lunch orders can still be placed using the online system Flexischools. Please see the new menu below. YUM!
Lunch order day is now Friday. Orders must be made by the Wednesday.
Our first lunch delivery will be on Friday, 24 April 2026.

The Easter Bunny came to school on Wednesday during Garden Club. They hop hop hoped all around school. It was very exciting.
Garden Exchange - Please help yourself to our freshly grown vegetables on display at the front of school. Please also share anything from your gardens here too.
Art & Music
Years 4/5/6 - Warm/Cool Colour Self-Portraits
Students painted their self-portraits in either cool or warm colours. Using old newspapers and magazines, students cut out shapes to make facial features and hair, thinking about the proportions of the face. In one part of the hair, students sketched a drawing about a hobby they like or something about them using a fine liner pen. We applied oil sticks to create a t-shirt design and glued on to a background.
Such talented 4/5/6 students!

Music - Term 1
Hot Cross Buns - Year 2
During Term 1 in music, Year 1 and 2 students have been learning how to play 'Hot Cross Buns' on the xylophone and glockenspiel.
We have been learning about how to hold our mallets, the rhythm of the song, the lyrics and what notes to play on the bars.

PE and Dance
PE /Dance Weekly Snapshot
It’s been a lively week in PE and Dance! Students built their basketball skills through our Movement Catch and Partner Moving Throw activities, practising passing on the move, dribbling through space, and finishing with shooting at the net. Lots of teamwork, quick footwork, and confident shots made for a great atmosphere.
Our Prep classes focused on safe and fair play, using fun team games to practise helping others, following rules, and knowing when to seek help.
In Dance, we wrapped up our final lesson for the term. Our Grade 3s explored how to use movement and the elements of dance to represent different types of weather. They created clear weather‑inspired actions, used levels, pathways, timing, and energy, worked collaboratively, and performed their short sequences with confidence while respectfully watching others.
Several classes also refined their lacrosse skills, finishing with a whole‑class game full of great passing and plenty of smiles.
A positive week of movement, creativity, and teamwork all round!
Champion of the Week Award
Congratulations to Jordan in Grade 2.
This week’s PE Champion is Jordan in Grade 2, who absolutely shone during our basketball sessions. He demonstrated fantastic skills — sharp passing, smooth bounce passes, confident dribbling, and some impressive shots at the net.
What really set Jordan apart, though, was his attitude. At the end of the lesson, he took it upon himself to help pack up all the basketballs without being asked. That kind of initiative shows real respect, responsibility, and leadership.
Well done, Jordan — a brilliant role model for others and a well‑deserved PE Champion!

Wellbeing at Wallington
URSTRONG Friendship Ninjas helps students learn how to build strong, healthy and respectful friendships. Through fun, age-appropriate lessons, students learn how to understand their feelings, communicate kindly, solve friendship problems and respond to challenges in positive ways. The program gives students a shared language and practical strategies they can use every day to support positive relationships and wellbeing at school.

Unexplained absences
Please check Compass for any unexplained absences for your child/s for 2026, if you could put an explanation for each one before the end of term.
An unexplained absence in compass us a record indicating that a student was marked “not present” (absent or late) without a reason entered by a parent/guardian. It means that school is aware the student is missing but not why.
How to Fix: Under the "Attendance" tab, the "Unexplained" tab lists these absences. Parents can select the relevant dates and click "Explain with Note/Approval" to provide a reason.
Why It Matters: Schools are required to ensure they know the safety of students and keep attendance records, requiring a reason for every day a student is absent/late.

The Great Barwon River Duck Race - Rotary Club Ocean Grove
The Great Barwon River Duck Race will take place on Easter Saturday (April 4th) starting from the Barwon Heads Bridge around 1 pm.
If you indicate support for Wallington Primary School when purchasing a ticket, we will receive $5 for each duck they sell.

Saver Plus is a 10-month online program designed to help participants learn about financial management, set savings goals, and develop regular saving habits.
Matched Savings:
Participants who complete the program have their savings matched by ANZ, up to a maximum of $500, which can be used for education-related costs.
Online Delivery:
The program is delivered online, making it accessible to participants across Australia.
Saver Plus is a partnership between ANZ, the Brotherhood of St. Laurence, The Smith Family and Berry Street.
Eligibility: To be eligible, participants need to have a current Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card and an eligible Centrelink payment, have other regular income, be studying themselves or have a child in school, be 18+ years old, and agree to join in free online financial education workshops.
